I love how she talks to him with old love songs. The one she played when he died was the same song she played after he took a break, inside her, from fixing her up, after he got her! ^^

I'm 67 years of age and worked with machinery all my life. If you don't believe machinery has a mind of its own, you haven't spent enough time around it. I can relate to this scene.

I like how she starts up, and the instrument panel and radio illuminate with that antique glow.

The creepiest part isn't even Christine being revealed as sentient, but that Arnie clearly knew it, and didn't think it was insane or terrifying to have to talk it into starting. Madness.

I love how the shot of the unlit dashboard is like Christine giving him the silent treatment

Brother came home from Florida with a used Cordoba in Dark Autumn Red... I fell in love with it at first-sight. He said the starter on it sometimes would "freewheel" like that, but it never gave me trouble.

Now get this....

One night, he tosses me the keys and tells me to roll-up the windows on it. "You might need to start it to have enough voltage..." he said. So, I climbed behind the wheel and easily started her... and the radio came on, playing "I Think We're Alone Now" by Tiffany, ironically.

It's been that way with red Mopars for me since.😊

Why don't they make good horror movies like this anymore?

Funny my car does the same thing. When I go to drive my other vehicle or work on the other vehicle, the alarm will go off randomly.

"It's all right. Everything's the same." LMAO. So classic, I had to go out and buy the Christine 1:18 replica. And, yes, everything IS all right (with us), everything's the same.

Arnie had just dropped Leigh (his g/f) home. Christine was pissed because she regarded Leigh as a threat.

I know the story is fictitious but it reminds me of a letter someone wrote in the members magazine when I used to be a member of the Ford Corsair Owners Club here in the UK. Someone had bought a mint low mileage car from the estate sale of an old lady that had owned it from new and would never sell even when she stopped driving. He recommissioned it and got it on the road again. After a short period driving it he described starting to feel very uncomfortable and that he felt he was not alone in the car. Then the bonnet randomly flew up whilst he was driving a while later.
No fault found with the bonnet catch.
Later the electrics died in the middle of nowhere - he described it literally like pulling a plug out of the wall.
Again - no faults found when put through diagnostics.
And the final straw was as he described it "fighting with the feeling that someone else was trying to wrench the wheel out of my hand".
He decided at that point that the old lady probably still did not wish to pass ownership of the car to anyone else and sold it on.
Think I'd have been a bit freaked as

Christine just got jealous.

If you own Christine don't forget she deserves more attention than your gf

"It's Only Make Believe" by Conway Twitty is another time appropriate song for Christine to play on her radio.

The reason they don't make good movies like this anymore:

1. They don't know how.
2. Most of the younger movie goers are too dumbed down to appreciate them and would get bored too easily.

My dad had a car that was like that. If he was stressed and in a bad mode trying to get somewhere in a rush the car refused to start, but if took a deep breath, stroke the dashboard and said Please, it started right away.

even the song adds to the scare factor
