There should be a thing that automatically sets the a JWST image as your desktop background the moment it's released...

Loved the last punchline.. Science and beauty can indeed go hand in hand.

All I can hear is a chorus of wizened scientists crying, "I was born at the wrong time!"

In 1998 my mother bought me the book of Hubble images for my 39th birthday. When I saw the "Pillars of Creation" I sat there on the couch and cried! That's right a grown man cried at the beauty!

I remember looking at a photo book just from hubble teleskop images which my father had in his room. I was astonished at a young age and it fueled my desire to get a scientific degree

Wow! Still one of my most favorite images from Hubble! The Pillars of Creation!! Still my desktop background on my Linux fileserver.
So interesting seeing this in IR from the JWST!

In the late 90's my mom gave me the book of Hubble images for Christmas and I cried at the Pillars of Creation, this is so much more incredible I'm lost for words!

That’s amazing! Any chance that we could see any slight movement of the dust by comparing the two images?

Awesome one.
I just wish I could control the volume rather than JUST mute, and why can't we scroll shorts, YT?...

"only a few lightyears". Just that by it self is already ginormous. But the fact that it is a small part of the eagle nebula, gives us a glimpse of how large our universe is.

I think both HST and JWST images are valuable. Better when used in combination.

“Only” a few light years long. That’s still absolutely massive! The next closest star (after our sun) is “only” a few light years away.

If you pause the screen when he says stars forming inside, the dust looks like an alien running. Like hes carrying a football. This cloud is a pretty cool ink blot test. I can see all kinds of weird things but then again I haven't rolled out of bed yet. My brain is still in dream mode
