AirTag Distance Test - vs. Tile Pro & Chipolo One

Показать описание
Curious how far the AirTag can work over "single user" Bluetooth? (This test has nothing to do with the Apple Find My Network) Today we test the MAX distance of the AirTag vs the Tile Pro & Chipolo One. We put them all in a similar environment, with line of site, and see which one does better.

Of course Apple's Find My network is enormous and this enormous network is a Game Changer for finding misplace items. Even though the bluetooth distance is what is, it still doesn't change the fact that the size of the Find My network is the most important thing in finding your misplace items outside of "single user" Bluetooth range. Although a better Bluetooth signal/range could greatly improve something that is already the best out there.

I have the same result and found precision finding will often not start until within 20-30 feet. By the time precision finding works your close enough that the sound works. For me Tile is still king.

Always love coming to your test videos. I upgraded to the 2020 Tile Pro based on your last test video even though my previous generation Tile wasn’t even a year old. You need to have the best tracker when it comes to pets and GPS trackers are prohibitively expensive, cumbersome, and really the Tile Pro is more than good enough unless your pet roams many blocks away. Like you showed, as long as it’s a football field away you’ll find it eventually.

FYI:
Tile also offers the notifications on things left behind which is extremely useful and works every time even if the app is closed.
I have a Tile Pro on my keys, a Tile Slim (shaped like a credit card) in my wallet, and ironically a Tile Pro on my Airpods Pro!

That’s right, Airpods Pro only connect to your phone if they are out of their case, but you’re a damn fool if you leave these little guys just thrown about to be swiped or dropped, stepped on, or have some drink spilled on them. My Airpod charging case is on a carabiner with a rubber outer case and always with me, so naturally the pods are either in my ears (gee, where did I place them? I can’t think while this music is blasting into my ears!) or charging in their case.

I also keep Tile Pros on my pets’ collars and they work great. They are sturdy, carry a great distance and are very loud. My cat loves to hide from me outside and ever since we upgraded to the 2020 Tile Pros he has never been able to evade capture.

The “left behind” feature costs you an additional $30 yearly subscription, but they have promotions, too, when you buy their products. I think they offered the first year free at one point, and I only paid $20 for the first year. That is roughly what I used to pay anyway back when I had to replace my Tile yearly before they introduced replaceable batteries. Now that the batteries are cheap to replace, I really don’t have to pay them every year anyway, but I tried the Premium free trial and I was impressed. I’d get into my car and drive somewhere without one of my items for whatever reason and my phone would bleep and a notification pops up saying “You left Home (or Work or [address] without your Airpods”. Worked every time whether it was my Airpods or keys or wallet, it notified me when I left a location without them. It also gives me precise “last seen” locations.

I only wish the network of users were larger, but it will never be as large as the number of iPhone users. Still it is the superior product for now. The distance is great (always finds that darn cat), the sound is loud and customizable, and the price is cheap.

I like your reviews is difficult to find side to side tracker range tests, I finally got a Chipolo One as has similar range and more free features

Your channel is the best distance test on these trackers. You should have more followers and thumbs up.

Hey, you say not to use these as pet trackers. I recently moved a few blocks away from my old house and my cat sneaks back to the old house. I am just looking for something that will beep when in range of I walk up and down the street. You say in lost mode they only try to connect every 15 min, is that true even if your phone comes into range?

Big question: how well does this work with pets? I keep seeing "gps tracking" on all of these devices yet not one of them actually uses GPS which bothers me. I'm not going to sound the alarm of this thing at 2:00 a.m. trying to find my cat when he's late getting home. I'd much rather be able to check a map of the area to see where he is and go to that location. Know why devices that actually do that?

I just bought the chipolo one and it has a range of only five meters :(

It would be hard to measure but I think battery life is important. Have you done any testing?

Tile Pro is the clear winner! Nobody beats Tile Pro!

Have you done any simulated real world test for a Bluetooth pet tracker? Ex. You're walking down the street looking for your cat, will you detect it under a nearby car, in a bush, around the side or corner of a house or backyard, or any other situation where its not uninterrupted line of sight? If you're saying 40 feet inside a house, then it can probably accomplish some of those. The choices are limited here in Indonesia. I just bought a cheap Nut Mini but even a thin bush blocks the signal. The speed of detection is also slow. Makes a difference if the tracker is detected every 5, 15 or 30 seconds. I'm going to try a fresh battery before trying the next one. So far, Chipolo seems like the best for me.

My dog picked the Tile and pooped on the AirTag.

Apple fanboys shilling and calling it the best Bluetooth tracker. They know fanboys will buy anything. Sub par and missing features of other Bluetooth trackers. That’s why they still sell their 2015 Apple TV and suckers are still buying it 😂
