I was skeptical and did a lot of research about this device until I bought it today to test. I told my sister to put it in her pocket when she leaves home. Sure enough she left with it, 15 min later, it showed me she was at her home. Then I see that it pings every 2-5 min of location. This thing is going to work wonders for me. If you guys don’t believe, go watch where the guy decides to ship one to Apple HQ, another one to SpaceX HQ and the 3rd one to North Korea. So interesting.

But you didn’t discussed how far you can tracked the tag? For example a mile or over a mile? Can you still tracked the tag?

I think video is missing a key feature. Unlike all these other trackers that require you to download an app and others as well to get the most out of it. The airtag doesn’t. When it comes in contact other iPhones it gives a location to you. That’s a far more reliable to me.

would this work to put in my car to track it if it is stolen? can i pull up a map to locate? if so, this is a lot cheaper than installing a lojack system and i'll buy it today. crime in my city is thru the roof and this would be awesome to find car quickly.

Would be better if like Tile, it had a small button on the tag that you could find your phone with if you only have the AirTag and have misplaced your phone.

Whats the detection range ? The most important part.

Can you disable the beeping in scenarios where an item was stolen and you don’t want the person that stole it to detect it?

Does this work for tracking your pets? I paid a fortune for Jiobit trackers for my cats. It would have been much cheaper to use these if so.

No precision finding on XS equals a pass for me. Find my is so bad in general too

I’m hoping to buy these for Burning Man for me & my friend to place them on our bikes, our camp, & on our body accessories. Will 2 iPhones work on 1 AirTag?

I got myself one at release and although it’s not perfect, still worth the small price since all my stuff is apple.. the cohesion in Find My is great. One issue, and it may be my iPhone.. it’s an 11, the first to have a U1 chip. But it’s horrible at finding the AirTag until I’m within like 5’ of it which is weird. In find my app it will always be within 20 yards of where it actually is. That’s not fantastic but it’s a start.. if I leave my backpack somewhere I know where because it’s pretty easy to narrow down and remember the spot I was at.

When I tap play sound though, instant. So that is a plus cause that makes it very easy to find when you start getting close. I got the cheapo Belkin keyring holder and it’s actually been great.. felt weird spending $15 on that but glad I did cause it’s held up and looks new still even though the AirTag is all scratched up inside it.

One of these with a Belkin holder is gonna be about $50 shipped direct from apple but it’s so versatile. For instance, i unpaired and put on my grandmas iCloud before she flew cross country and I put it in a zippered pocket in her checked bag. She was really happy to be able to see where it was at all times. I paid $30 for it two years ago and it’s been great. Bought a cheap pack of ten batteries and have only replaced twice now. Solid product/good investment 👌👍

The Air Tag would be improved by providing some sort of attachment loop loke the others, rather than going for the slick “white M&M” design.

I only have an IPhone XS, can I use the AirTag ? Or it needs an IPhone 11 or 12?
