How to Clean Ram Truck Evaporator

In this video we show how we fixed the air flow problems with this 2015 Ram 3500 truck. The process should be similar to other ram trucks. YOU SHOULD NOT have to remove the dash if you do what we show in this video.

I just wanted to say a huge thank you. My truck had almost no airflow and now it blows my beautiful mullet hair back.

Reuben, you are brilliant! I’ve been watching videos and reading forums for weeks trying to figure out why my fan motor isn’t blowing hard enough in my 2015 Dodge Ram. No one except you (that I could find) realized the coil was acting as a filter. Then you’re solution to the problem that didn’t involve tearing the whole dash out is brilliant. I did exactly what you showed on the video and now my fan blows strong. I live in Texas so the AC needs to blow very strong. I am 51 years old and am a mechanic by trade. I am so grateful that I can learn from you young guys too :)

This is the only view I've seen that shows how to open the space for a filter. Also the only one I've seen that shows a way to clean core inside. Thanks so very much.

Thank you for your video. It helped me clean the evaporator coil of my 2015 Doge Ram 3500. I didn't use any water or sprays. Removed resistor, and pushed in 4" diameter dryer vent brush and pushed it all around. It dislodged all the caked on dirt, and I vacuumed the dirt out using wet and dry vacuum with a 1/2" tube squeezed into small slot vacuum attachment. The airflow increase was amazing, and feels like original. Selfie on cell phone takes decent photos of dirt on coil when pointed up resistor opening.

My neck hurts just watching this. Good job getting the video of the whole process with the funky hole and the coil. I think that was either pollen or mold blocking it up. That coil cleaner product worked well.

Nice fix a gem of a video. Surprising how so much you have to filter to get to the answer you need. Nice job guys

Great video! I just cleaned out the evaporator and rinsed it out with garden hose spray adaptor after removing fan and resistor and cutting access holes in same locations. Was easy to get brush in there and clean it. Put an air filter in, too.
Thank you!

I've watched at least a dozen videos for this process and this is by far the best. I was also thinking of using foam and blowing from the oposite side of the evap but I wasnt sure if it was visible. You can confirmed the backside of the evap is easily accessed, thank you!!!

I just wanted to let you know this video right here save me so much time and money. I really appreciate it. God bless on another note. I think it’s really stupid how the Dodge ram does not come with a Van blower motor filter my truck didn’t have one either and I had to do the same thing you did in this video to make my AC start blowing harder. God bless and thank you again very much.

I didn’t even think to go in from the left side between the heater and evap. Great video you’re saving my ass! I’ve been cleaning it from the right side for two years with minimal result

That's awesome and people wonder why their air conditioning fails slowly over time despite the fact there is nothing mechanically wrong

Ty for the video, 2011 ram same problem, couldn't figure it out until I seen the video. I did what you did except cutting the square and hole, but fixed the problem now I can feel cold air and good flow. Ty again really helped

Good job. I have to cut a hole in my Silverado to get better access to the evaporator. Do not I repeat do not use any kind of WIRE brush. You will close off the evaporator fins!

You can use the water hose in there, just make sure you keep the drain plug clear .
Great video, you can tape the outside air inlet shut and ut will help keep your coils cleaner.
