Melinoe is known from a single Orphic hymn(where we get the story of her birth and parentage), and a magic charm, neither of which is a lot to go on; best we can say is that she seems to have been associated with ghosts and illusions, and was definitely in the same group of Kthonic deities as Hekate, Persephone, Nyx, and others.

Yes, actually in most of the mythos there isn't a definitive version of he story, most of them have divergent details, so I think is fair for the creator of the Hades games to play around with them and choose the version he thinks fits best with his universe

Melenoe had half her limbs white and half black? There may be a cultural connection between her and Hel in Norse mythology, then. Half Hels face was rotten black, while the other half was that of a healthy and beautiful woman. Not exactly the same as Melenoe, but very similar none the less.
