To help the dye powder stick I give my pieces a light misting of soda ash water before and after I place the dye on. Works great.

On another video you dyed a long sleeve white tee with black and grey, how did you stop it from bleeding when you rinsed it out? I know you said sodium alginate but I wasn't sure how or where I should add it? Do I add it to the white parts I dont want dyed? Or to the parts I dyed? When I spiral dyed a white tee and rinsed it out the whole shirt turned light and dark black with no white except the thread. Help please!!!!

Have you ever tried using elasticbands instead of the waxed rope and if so was the geod effect very different? I really want to try makes something like this but all stores are closed so I cant find the right kind of rope
