After 11 years using Canon, I am very decided to go Sony on my next gear upgrade. Canon is wonderful in so many aspects, but Sony is smaller with better lenses (in my opinion) and has better focus.

Interesting choices, because at PhotoShoott we have two partners. One of us uses canons and the other Sonys. Both are great and all how you personally use it.

Canon m50 to Sony A7IV. Both were great hybrids but I chose to go with a good full frame sensor for video.

Sony for Speed and ease of use when photographing Manually. All settings being on the wheels makes me 3 times faster than when I use Canon. Also the Custom / Auto white balance feature changed the game for me. 👌🏾

I have canon R5 because of the f2 28-70 lens. I really like the Leica S-3 and Hasselblad cameras, but the Canon auto focus is fantastic. I was going to use my iPhone, but I tried to shoot a picture of Railroad workers welding the rail together at night: it was a impossible to obtain a good picture, and I knew, that I needed the R5 with the f2 lens. I also have the f2.8 70-200, and the f4.5-7.1 100-500. I prefer Canon over Sony, because the image looks closer to a film image. I have worked with other film cameras, and the R5’s ability to adjust and bracket pictures, time exposure, etc. is fantastic.

Choose lenses eco system first. Canon 14-35mm f4 with IS. Only on canon. With filter thread. Tons of EF lenses.

Both are great camera's, it all depends on what your needs are.
You have a ton more lenses to select from, for Sony than Canon, which could be a deal breaker for most.

Both are worthy... I went from Sony, to Canon, then back to Sony, and I'll never change again. It's less to do with one being better, but more to do with "pick it and stick it." The longer you stay with one the easier it is to master and to keep muscle memory intact

I use both but I have 3 Sony full frames for events and 1 Canon Crop for all wild and sport

Sony. Far better full frame lens selection without resorting to adapters.
