Canon EOS R6 Mark II or Sony A7IV?? Which Would You Choose??

If you had to choose between the the Sony a7 IV or Canon EOS R6 Mark II, which one would you choose??

The Canon has a 24.2MP, 4K 60FPS capable sensor where as the Sony has a 33MP, 4K 60FPS Capable Sensor. Which would suit your needs better. Lowlight is going to be great on both and the AF tracking is very comparable.

Besides Sony having access to 3rd party lenses, are there more reasons to go with Sony over Canon??

Had the A73, upgraded to R6, what an amazing underrated camera.

I chose Sony purely because of economical reasons. Firstly I love third party options like Sigma, Tamron and Samyang. Also, I almost always buy used cameras/lens and sell them afterwards, and Sony bodies tend to depreciate less over time (cuz sony is more rigid in dropping their price). To me, the value depreciation rate is more important than the face value price.

Love my sony. Choose because of sigma lenses. Cheaper and still top quality

I've been considering this for quite some time. And after watching many reviews, the R6 II is the way to go. Autofocus is faster and more responsive, super fast sensor readout speed almost stacked level and in general just better value for money in the Canon. I will be upgrading my Sony A7R III to this.

I love Sony A7IV because of wide range of lens choice and the best hybrid camera in the market.

I got the Canon because the Sony lagged in many areas including:
Cropped 4k60 only (Canon has full framer oversampled 4k60)
Much slower photo FPS than the Canon
Worse build (Canon build is so much nicer)
Much worse LCD (Sony seems to use 2012 LCDs on their cameras).
Slightly worse eye AF (Canon's eye AF is stellar and the Sony used to have issues with front focus)

Also, it was cheaper for me to get the Canon despite it being newer, and lenses were cheaper. I got Sigma Art 50 1.4 and 14-28 2.8 and they are flawless. Canon can adapt EF lenses with no quality loss and speed and accuracy is on par with native RF lenses.

i think if there's a rubber sleeve to fit onto the sony for ergonomics and they can match color science, it solves 98% of complaints. the sony menus if you actually go through and customize, is more customizable and once you set up can be faster than canon. i like both and am happy the 2 push each other, but just saying based on complaints

Undeniably choose Canon, with this you can still use your old canon lens with an adapter. There are lots of used lenses available in the market which are cheaper. Sony lenses are expensive and stand second compared to Canon. They have heating issues, though the only good thing I see is USB charging with Sony. If still confused, have a look through the view finder of both cameras and things will be clear.

Rolling Shutter effect in A7 IV and over heating issues while recording in 4K plus a crop in 4K60... I'd go with EOS R6 II

If you asked me this like 4 years ago I'd have said Canon, but in the last 3 to 4 years, Sony been killin it!!!...

Have used Sony before both a7ii and the A7iii also when that came out. It's a good camera but there are a few things I dislike. The menus, the poor quality screen which I use alot. And that one needs a bigger grip beacuse it's to small for my taste.
The good things is the lenses. There is a ton to choose from.

But bought the r6 when it came out and man oh man what a camera. Didn't use rf glass beacuse it's ridiculously priced. So used an adapter and ef glass. Didn't really mind that though. And from what I've seen the r6ii is even a better camera with better focus modes and 24megapixels. If I had to choose today then the canon for sure. It's like owning a iPhone it's more refined and a superb camera.

Let me put an end to Sony has more lenses. NOONE needs more than 3 lenses. Let me explain:
1. 24-70 is the main lens most people need
2. Only fashion photographer uses an 85
3. Only real estate photographer or vlogger uses less than 20
4. Only sports or wildlife photographers uses over 200
5. 16-35 is for video
6. For real estate all you need is a prime 14 or 16-35
7. For events all you need is 24-70 or 24-105
8. Products shot all you need is 100 macro and 24-70
9. For wedding 70-200, 24-70 and a 50 1.2
Point is unless you shoot everything all the time you can’t use every lens. I shoot wedding, events, fashion, products, and video and only have a 50 1.2, 24-70, 16, and 24 1.4. I’ve own 10 other lenses and sold them because I never use them. Rent both Sony and canon then buy the one that’s the easiest and most fun to use. Currently I own an R5 and R6ii. I used to have a A73, A6400, GH5, A7S3.

I was visiting with some street photographers in the Philippines who make their living with their cameras at events and on weekends in public areas. They all were using ancient 6mp Canon and Nikon dslrs and these cameras were very well used condition but still working in all kinds of hot and humid salt air weather. I'm not sure if Sony cameras are that tough or long lasting but for me I would pick the Canon as I just seen the proof of how they are built like tanks.

Thinking of selling my R6 for the A7 IV. Been 6 years without third party lenses now. And today Sigma made a statement that it won’t happen soon for full frame RF.

Sony has more e mount lenses to offer that I like and is more open for third party lens makers. And the handling, button and dial placements make more sense to me. But I would choose a alpha 7 iii or alpha 9 i
