Is Windows 7 Still Safe to Use?

Windows 7 is officially nearing it's end of life, with extended support for it ending in January 2020. Mainstream support for Windows 7 actually ended in 2015, which means there hasn't been any feature updates for it, just bug fixes and security updates. But after this year, ALL updates will be stopping, including security updates. Which means it's absolutely essential to upgrade if you're still using it.

Last I checked (October 2018), Microsoft was still accepting Windows 7 and 8 keys to activate Windows 10 installs. Not just upgrade installs, but fresh installs from an 1809 iso.

Joe makes very strong points in this video! People should begin planning to start upgrade to Windows 10 at some point. Windows 7 was well loved, and we all would hate to see it go. But good times come to an end at some point.








Here's the problem though: I strongly feel as if lots people who were using Win7 will not upgrade to Win10, but they instead are just going to switch to

I had a friend with Windows 7 and finally last week decided that he should upgrade to Windows 10. I spent Saturday afternoon doing this on two machines, downloading from the link on here. Surprisingly all went well and also surprisingly it did to ask me for the serial number for the old Windows 7 - that was probably because I actually had it to hand!
