It does help. I live with chronic pain (we've been trying everything). 5 years ago, I started working out (more than usual), and I got stronger. My pain isn't gone, but being stronger gives me the upper hand on my bad pain days, and being stronger helps me feel better about myself overall. Plus, my mind is healthier because I am fighting. Hopefully this will help to guide someone else.

My dear Emma, I am happy and proud to say I walked 3 kms in a Walkathon. I have Major Depressive Disorder with Psychosis. I am on therapy and pills. This is the first time I have done exercise of any sort in the last 4 years. I finished last, but I completed the event, which was my goal. I have known you through youTube for 2 days only, but I wanted to share this with you and all other regulars of your channel.😁✌️

I'm 100% agree with this! I have found that with not being sad but with severe deep clinical depression that exercise Just like a medicine is taking as prescribed. When exercise is done daily and preferably intensely is one of the most effective ways to manage depression.

This is so true! I tested it. I went a couple weeks without working out and I felt terrible, depressed, and anxious! Then, I got back into it, and I felt more energized, motivated, and confident!

It's also the making a promise to yourself and keeping it
"I'll go for a walk today", "i'll leave the house", "i'll do the dishes", "i'll brush my teeth today"

Can you talk about what kinds of exercise help most for depression? I agree it helps a lot, but i also notice I can't do too much or get too focused on it because my nervous system doesn't like that either

I work in the mental health field and I know everything in this video is true. I hear from patients all the time who say that exercise works wonders for them but when it comes to myself I just don’t seem to get any benefit. It makes me feel like a bit of a fraud when I’m selling the benefits of exercise! I do walk most days and that does seem to help my mood but anything else just seems to make me feel worse. I do Pilates once a week and I feel like I just willing it to end the whole way through, I used to do running years ago and it was the same with that. I don’t seem to get the endorphins rush that others experience. I think it’s just because any exercise just highlights now unfit and un-supple I am but I’m not overweight and I don’t have physical health problems other than my blood pressure can go a bit funny sometimes so I don’t really have an excuse.
