Pretty tricky to no damage at first, but I think that's mostly down to not being familiar with the game at the moment, and the fact it released at 3am lol. A lot of the time I'd get caught out thinking I'd be able to dodge mid-combo, more like God of War or something. Similarly, the AoE attack seemed a bit awkward to dodge at first, but it's doable with better timing. Once I get a better feel for the combos and when you can break them, it'll be a lot easier. The boss is also very easy to stagger, so you can get massive damage into it from chaining those.

If you're wondering about the spirit at the end, you can collect it later on once you meet the NPC that upgrades your gourd. After that, when you go the shrine it will let you collect the missing spirit of this boss.

If you're having trouble with this boss, what got me through it was immediately upon fighting: Immobilize spell, light attack until he un-freezes, and then heavy attack repeatedly and he will continuously fall. Once he stands up, run away and wait until Immobilize regens and then repeat cycle. If you run out of mana, be safe and dodge normally and try to finish him off.
P.S. I'm so happy this game has turned out to be exactly what we were all hoping for. Incredible work Game Science. Steam reviews are mind-blowing.

After more than 20 tries, I was finally able to defeat that thing. It was extremely difficult for the first boss.😂

Perfection!

These tips helped me: increase your stamina by 3 0r 4 points. Increase the dodging by two points (which is its max). You will need to dodge and this skill will help you to get far away out of his way quickly too. Lastly, and very important, use the Tiger Subduing Pellets, which increases the damage for a long duration. It’s perfect for getting him knocked down and it takes down his life faster when you immobilise him. Make sure to hide behind the big tree next to the bridge to restore your stamina and perhaps, take a drink for your health if it’s down. Wait until your immobilise skill builds back up and go at it again.
