This is my cover of a classic of the soundtracks: Axel F (Album Version) of 1984 created by the great Harold Faltermeyer for the magnificent film Beverly Hills Cop.

To create this cover, I was inspired by the version on the CD released by La-La Land Records in 2016.

This is one of the first songs I wanted to learn since I went to middle school ... and I never thought that one day I would be able to realize my dream of recreating it!

Hope you like it ;)

That was a
I thought it was the original and I've been playing this on keyboard since 1985 (months after the movie was released. Everything sounds identical.
I'm going to tell you what I noticed as to why it's not the original. On Harold Faltmeyer's original track, on the beginning intro, the first 4 measures of the synth intro the synth patch is slightly softer in attack. A little more open. The 2nd 4 measures he makes the sound with more attack (such as you used throughout the whole song). If you listen to the original you will understand what I mean. That 2nd 4 measures the sound becomes more prominent and fuller. Almost making it sound doubled. :)
No human being on this planet is more familiar with this song and the sounds than I am. Great job on recreating it for your own thrill and for us.

I'm not convinced this is a cover... It's sounds EXACTLY like the original. Well done.

My Shazam app really thought this was actually Harold Faltmeyer. Tone is spot on

If “cover” wasn’t in the title, I wouldn’t have been able to distinguish this from the original. Top notch stuff.

The 80's were the best. Never see this level of awesomeness again

I just noticed the main theme begins and ends in an F key. Perfect for a guy named Axel F! What a genius that Faltermeyer was.

I love the fact this originally got pulled, as the algorithm thought it was the original.
That's testament to just how good this is 🥰

I hate that crazy frog has ruined this for me. Great cover though

I don't know what's more impressive, the cover itself or the intro being so convincing from the 80s! The font shakiness, fade-in/out effects, and color are spot on!

Back when synthesizers ruled the earth. Whatever happened to them? Are they extinct?

My 5-year-old is staring to take piano lessons, so I brought the keyboard in from the garage. I played this for him for the first time and the feeling I got when my son looked at me in amazement and said, “Wow, mama!! How did you know your play that?!?” 🥰 Thanks for making this video because now I don’t have to make one for him, since he makes me play with his fingers so HE can play it. Plus, your cover is SPOT ON!! I agree with everyone saying it sounds like the original!! Fabulous!!! Thank you!

I was born in April 1970, and I remember the original Axel F from the movie. This is a great cover version, 10 out of

Now all you need to do is record this to a cassette tape and then we'll have the true 80s experience.
