Very smart to test unpowered, at a minimum, close off one end of the loop with your finger and blow into it. The blow test would 100% have caught that gigantic leak.

Well he’s smart enough to run the pump without turning his components on. This should be fine.

In PC Building Community. This is consider as a jump scare. Even scarier than the rising price of GPU back in 2020.

For any people who are concerned, this person plugged in the pump and only the pump. This means that while the system probably got wet, it wasn't plugged in. As long as you let it dry, the system will be fine. I can see the jumper plugged into the 24 pin connector lol

So long as you are using a non conductive fluid (even distilled water) and you are only powering the pump this is fine. It is always a moment of panic for sure but so long as you dry it up and then clean any dyes off with alcohol.
Thankfully these days there are air pressure tools that you can hook up to your loop and push some air into it before you put any liquid in and let it sit with the pressure for an hour or two and if the pressure stays the same you have no leaks.

So weird that I always wondered what a coolant leak would look like inside of the case and this is the first time I’ve ever seen it since building my own PCs starting in 2008. I’m just glad that it’s alright from the way it looks. Definitely could have been worse, hopefully it wasn’t a loss friend! 🤝

That's why pressure testing your water loop is really important. Also the water seems to be coming out from the back of the cpu block which is really odd!

This is why you test the loop for 24hrs with paper towels in your system. Probably forgot the rubber gaskets or didn't tight down the plate to the block.
