i did that in 2017 with my 60hz acer i got 78 and still working fine after 7 years thats a good improvement but for exemple i have a 165 that goes to 178 but u need to be carefull cause yes its showing 178 but it may causes freezes on the panel make sure to run like a ufo ghosting test after ur oc to make sure it goes well and theres no freezes. I also had a 240hz asus that u could oc to 270 or 280 in the monitor menu but on 280 i had very small freezes

This works very well especially if you are using a monitor capable of getting a higher refresh rate but its capped at a certain amount because of your cable (some monitors only support their max refresh rate with DP not HDMI)

another way to increase your monitor's refresh rate is by going to your search bar and searching "view advanced display info" then theres an option to set your refresh rate

Went from 60hz to 66hz on a 2011 apple Thunderbolt Display. Had to lower the resolution from 1440p to 1080p, but the boost in responsiveness is good. I’ll update this if that changes.

i tested overclocking my 240hz monitor and it just resulted in worse ghosting or inverse ghosting and just felt choppy, tried a bunch of different hz and od levels but the factory set values clearly worked the best for me atleast

Went from 144 to 180 on my asus tuf a15 2021, no problems.
Also on my dell inspiron 5458, i got from 60 to 90

This should have delved into the timing adjustments too, to get even more. If you can squeeze 7 additional hz, you probably could get a bit more.

Every monitor I have tried has never gone up even 1hz without editing timings. And with manual timings, I've been able to get no more than 3hz extra. Tested on 2 HP 60hz office monitors, one acer 144gz monitor and my main 160hz one. (That one went from 8bit to 10bit color with tighter timings @160hz though). Other than that, same exact results, 3 more. Not saying it's not possible but I wouldn't get my hopes up for a even a 10% increase.

Worked, Excellent video, overclocked my Nitro 5 AN-515-55 laptop from 144hz to 161hz, Tested 163 but 161 is max and doesn't glitch
