She was the light of Sam’s light, a sweet dose of reason and dismay at the bar. But Diane Chambers gelled with the staff and patrons of Cheers very differently than Shelley Long got along with the cast… or, didn’t. Did she leave Cheers with bad blood? Was that why she wasn’t at the much-anticipated Cheers reunion at the Emmys?

I preferred the first years of cheers with Diane, I loved her high pseudo intellectual snobbery that was going to teach every one at cheers how to suit her kind of person

Loved Shelly Long in Night Shift and my personal favorite The Money Pit. Simply Awesome 🤘😎🤙

Her guest appearances on Fraiser were fantastic. I saw that show as a kid, even before i saw Cheers. And she still left an impression on me.

She was the TV Commercial Spokeswoman for Home Makers Funiture.
Here in the Chicagoland area back in the late 70's. When she started to get famous she cane back and did a couple more commercials for them.
(It was very nice of her.)
Also, Garry Coleman got his start in commercials for 1'st. Metropolitan Builders.
Again, in the Chicagoland area in the late 70's. I remember them fairly well. They were always on TV. Especially, Saturday mornings and afternoons.

I keep thinking that Shelley Long is still somewhere, looking the same and not a day older than when she appeared in Cheers.

Sam & Diane loving/fighting scenes were the peak of 80's comedy... and were never repeated.

Shelley Long's journey from Cheers to her diverse film career and TV roles is truly captivating.

What a shame I can’t look exactly the same 50 yrs down the road, especially be expected to look as I did when I had makeup artists and hairdressers to attend to every moment & need, since I had a TV series and a very public persona. After all, as a well known TV star, surely the public must know I’m not a regular, real human being, subject to aging and various other mortal maladies. It’s not fair!!

Gee what a shock! We all get old and our appearance changes. Who'd have thought?

I am team Diane! Shelley's chemistry with Ted was evident to be real.

That show was so much fun, and I'd forgotten how pretty she was.

Outrageous Fortune is hilarious. Shelley and Bette Midler were a great pair of talents.

This makes me so happy that Shelley is ok...doing just fine. I cannot tell you how often I have thought about her over the years. I loved her while growing up. Behind the scenes rumours and frankly personal issues aside, her work was and will always remain incredible and what she did for so many families over those years One cannot put a price on that kind of thing. We love you Shelley....always.

I was shocked when Shelly left "Cheers"!!
But, as soon as Kirstie showed up & did her crying jag, I was like, "OMG!!! She is perfect!! I love her!!! We will miss Shelly, but not as much as I 1st thought!!"
I loved the way Kirstie looked & sounded!!

I recently re-watched the entire Cheers series. The show was better when Shelly was on.

She’s living as she likes. Yes she was quite the beauty. But everyone should be able to get old as they like.

This video had practically nothing to do with the title. I hate that. It was a great documentary of Shelly Long's tenure on Cheers, and it would have been fine if the title reflected that. I just hate being deceived.

Cheers was one of my favorite shows! Never watched a lot of tv but never wanted to miss Cheers, always good for a laugh which on some days was much needed!
