I lived in Cuenca and it’s cold all year round; little to do besides going through the restaurants around the main square. Furthermore, if moving to the Pacific coast of Ecuador, ocean is cold and contaminated with fish factories refuse. And the cartels violence is out of control. Please research before recommending.

Nicaragua hasn’t required a retirement income of $600.US for years now. It’s up to around $1, 000 a month which is on par with Panama. Still very good!

The US is the most expensive if you take out all the places you wouldn't want to retire in.

Tagaytay is '''my''' pick !!! > I decided months ago. -- Spanish is needed in too many of your listed countries !?! -- Belize is OK - yet even Thailand isn't real language or visa friendly ?!? -- Siem Reap Cambodia is a much better choice for cheap living & a cheap visa friendly retirement !!! -- I have spent more than a year looking virtually everywhere on this planet for an ideal retirement destination. I don't speak Spanish & don't want to have to learn rather than enjoy my remaining years. Most retired elderly America's don't either. -- Cambodia's 2nd language is English & they even accept the USD ! -- Malaysia makes English mandatory in schools and many speak it in a wonderful country for retirement also.

The pronunciation of Medellin is brutal! lol. If you're an American living here, you HAVE TO live in the tourist area which is quite expensive.

Chaing Rai is inland and very boring ! Try the outskirts of Pattaya like Jomyien.

Nicaragua's current minimum monthly pension is $1K a month for one and $1200 for two. Anyone who retired under an earlier minimum is grandfathered in. You're going to be more comfortable with $2K to $3K a month. Granada is more expensive than some of the mountain cities.

Exploring affordable retirement options is valuable. It would also be helpful to see insights on the best places to retire domestically for those who prefer staying closer to home.

Few of those places are not safe. Retire in Colombia and others, no!

You have considered several cities in South East Asia. But none from India. Any particular reason?. In places like Goa, Bengaluru, Trivandrum and Kochi one can comfortably live within $1000. Medical facilities are top notch and weather is topical.

Very nice, if they will accept you.

An explanation of how to obtain the essential visas would help.
