10 Countries Everyone is Retiring to in 2023. (Less than $2200 a month)

Let’s take a look at where US retirees are relocating outside the US for their retirement in 2023.
Every couple of years we like to find out where the silver hairs are migrating to. Not all of us stay in the US for our golden years. Some of us decide to give another country a go.
Retirees are finding new ways to do retirement. One of the biggest hurdles to doing that is your budget.
More than half the people that can retire do it on a serious budget.
As we research if we can do it at some point we realize there are a lot of nice places to live that can cost ½ of what it costs in the US
This has led to retirees looking elsewhere to spend the bingo and golf cart years.

Today we are looking at the countries that were the most popular relocation countries for 2023.

I retired to Ecuador 6 yrs ago and I love it. I rent a 2br/2ba furnished apt 3 short blocks from the beach for $370 a month. ALL my fixed bills total less than $500 a month. COL here is abt 1/3 than in US. Come on down!

While I am retired and interested in re-locating, I found the key statement in this video to "I weep for our college students." Amen to that.

I'm 54 and my wife and I are VERY worried about our future, gas and food prices rising daily. We have had our savings dwindle with the cost of living into the stratosphere, and we are finding it impossible to replace them. We can get by, but can't seem to get ahead. We have started to save to retire from the farm, and possibly live on rental income, I'd really appreciate you go LIVE and talk about how to earn passive income online and retire comfortably, let’s say $1M

We spent a few weeks in Tamarindo, Costa Rica & found it not to be inexpensive at all. $10. for a hamburger was about average. For groceries we were spending $200. /week for basics for 2 of us & making simple meals at home. This was in 2018. Maybe other areas are less expensive but Costa Rica has a reputation for being the most expensive country in Central America so I am not sure where Briggs is getting his information from.

Completely left out South East Asia! There are some fantastic options there too. Great video. Cheers

Thanks for posting. Canada is becoming unaffordable, so I need to get the Hell out of here. Will research all of those places.

Retired to Morelia, Michoacan, Mexico two years ago for $2000 (USD) per month. My wife is Mexican and I'm from Reno, Nevada.
The cost of living, culture, architecture, quality medical care, the climate, the people and of course, the food. We haven't seen any evidence of violent crime since our move. I know it's here, but if you're aware of your surroundings, and don't get involved with the wrong people, you're fine.
We love it here. Best move I've ever made.

Inflation is far more harmful to individuals than a collapsing stock or property market because it directly affects people's cost of living, which they immediately feel. It is not surprising that the current market sentiment is extremely pessimistic. In today's economy, assistance is critical if we are to survive.

Although I really enjoy your videos I think you are overlooking some countries that have a ton of Americans! I want to visit the Philippines. I watch so many “expats” marry and build homes in the Philippines!!! Also Thailand, one of my best families on YouTube lives in Thailand. Vietnam? I have heard great things about Thailand. So how about a video covering these Thanks!

Born and raised in Belize but moved to the US. It really is good there if you love the ocean and nature. Its good for retirement outside the city but its pretty cool there. Hope you enjoy your trip to Belize tho!

We are moving to Ecuador in 30 days. We will be living very well on $2000. Can’t wait!

Well I miss Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines and Thailand on this list.
You can live very well with even lesser cost of living there. Philippines and Indonesia are cheapest. Philippines has a large percentage of English speakers.
Thailand English is spoken in bkk, pattaya and phuket.

I was advised to diversify my portfolio among several assets such as stocks and bonds since this can protect my portfolio for retirement of about $750k. I want to know: Do I keep contributing to my portfolio in these unstable markets, or do I look into alternative sectors?

You may give a try to settledown here in Malaysia. With USD 250 grand, you can own a decent freehold semi detached house (5 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms). You only need to spend less than USD1000 for your groceries. A decent meal cost you around USD 3-4....and most of us can speak English

Costa Rica is by far the most expensive country in central america and among the highest, if not the highest, in all of latin america.

I’m HAPPILY retired in my own back yard, but I must agree that Portugal is number one for the people who I know. Cheap comfortable friendly and embracing all cultures without a bother, that’s what they say.

There was a time when we " made it here", we had jobs for everyone and the products were of high quality, then the 1% wanted everything. Now Inflation drives prices up and if Inflation is high and jobs disappear by the millions we are in a recession and maybe headed for a Depression…

I guessing all of these cost of living estimates are based on a two people?
I have never considered retiring to living outside the US until recently. But there seems to be such great places to do just that.

Thanks for the video.

When I was doing global research, I found that most places Westerners would like to live in Costa Rica were more expensive now than Panama, and way more than, say, Nicaragua, Guatemala, and Honduras (not that I am interested in those, but Roatan Island is interesting). You likely want to check your stats on Costa Rica.
