The disturbing lore of the Pocketcat in #fearandhunger.

The Pocketcat is by far the most disturbing & unsettling creature in Fear & Hunger. Initially found in the caverns, the feline salesman will greet the player joyously and offer up a bit of philosophy. However, he soons shows his true dark, twisted side when he offers you valuable relics. Only he doesn't want money for them, but instead he only wants children.

If you're sick enough to trade either the Girl or demon kid characters, you will get a powerful weapon or spell book, but you will condemn them to a cruel fate with the Pocketcat. However, if you refuse him, he will become much more aggressive and morph to a more frightening form. Upon reading the Tales of the Pocketcat books, you find the feline humanoid is a boogeyman type character in the world of Fear & Hunger who steals mischevious children from their parents, and we find in Fear & Hunger 2 Termina that he is fittingly a servant of the Trickster Moon God, Rher.

My understanding is that pocket cat in the firest game is trying trick you into giving him the girl so he can stop her from becoming a God. Because all the old God's fear that humans will ascend to be true God and replace them. Also all the old gods cursed human so they normally will never become true gods.

Had a math teacher in 6th grade that people called, "Mr. Pocket Pull" cause he always had a hand hin his pocket, moving it around and whatnot. He also ALWAYS happened to have coins in that pocket, his excuse being that he liked to play with the coins.

It was crazy how blatantly more he would play with those coin when he was leaning over or next to a female student. Everyone just assumed that he knew everyone knew and was doing it more vigorously because he knew he wouldn't get fired if someone complained. People and parents had complained for the last 12+ years and he was still there.

He was also one of those teachers that had a cup full of pencils on his desk, but they were, "trophies" from kids who left their pencils behind and refused to let anyone use them if they needed one. He would just sit there and make fun of the kid for losing their pencil, tell them that, "There are two kinds of people in the world; Drains and Faucets. And you're being a drain right now." and then would give them a 0 on whatever test or work we were doing because they didn't have a pencil.

As always, there were also the stories of girls who suddenly got very good grades in his class even though the teacher made a big deal if someone didn't do their homework or did poorly on their homework, so everyone knew a few of them should barely have been passing, let along getting an "A". He really loved to tell people to stay after class, almost always those girls too... obviously it was because they hadn't done their homework. No other reason. Definitely.

Hot tip; Before giving him the demon child (don't worry, it's a pretty useless party member) you should saw off both of his arms. That way you can get the sergal spear, a secter weapon, easier!

We get to know much more about him in the second game.
There is a theory that Pocketcat life loops back around as he dissapears day 3 when Daan is recruited/played as or passed down when his body fails.
Also both his inteligent servants in first game (Lady Of The Moon and Pocketcat) want you to give them the girl (child of divine origin) for benefits. It's because Rher wants to stop people joining old gods.
Why girl specificaly? To ascend to real godhood you need to have one human parent and other one must be god (can be new god)

I think Pocketcat is based on the work of an artist named Louis Wain (1860-1939). Although Louis Wain was relatively well known for his early works featuring anthropomorphic cats published in scores of magazines and childrens books. He ultimately become famous for his decent into madness. Which gave his later works (again featuring anthropomorphic cats) unsettling and psychotic quality's.
Plus when you look at Miro Haverinen (the Fear and Hunger dev...) horrifically twisted characters designs it's pretty obvious that his artistic style is based on a dark and macabre type of abstract surrealism. Another hint backing up this idea can be found when you talk to Pocketcat in the Museum (Fear and Hunger 2 Termina) as I don't believe it's a mistake that yourself and Pocketcat have your conversation while standing in font of a massive copy of "Guernica". One of Pablo Picasso's most famous and disturbing paintings, Guernica was inspired by the 1937 Spanish civil and is known because of its powerful abstract portrayal of universal suffering, especially that of innocent victims...

I remember i did read somewhere that he used to be another character in another fear and hunger game, apparently after that game he ended up turning into this pocket cat thing.
Since i don't know much about the game i don't know if it is true or not

If you are honest with him when you first meet him about how you walk the dark path and then when he asks if you love him you say no then he wont aggro you when you refuse to give him the girl
