He is the reason why it's socially acceptable to keep cats as pets in the West and to cherish them. He is also one of the first (if not the first) western artist to delve into psychedelic representation, leading to total abstraction long before the Abstract Movement. His later style is often maligned as a consequence of mental illness, which it wasn't - he was still producing realistic work on commission until the end. He is a Legend.

I love those cats. I'm a young 62, but remember these from something... I'd love to know about the artist who illustrated the Raggedy Ann and Andy books. Not sure but think those illustrations are maybe from the forties or a lil earlier.🌍💚

That’s not “branching out” to mosaics and landscapes…those are physical manifestations of the torment that schizophrenia causes him into his last days.
