Thanks I have the same issue. I am going to try it out today and see if that is my problem.

Very informative. I had the opposite problem with my Piranha Fx - the brush bristles are too short and doesn't contain the chips as it should. They had to same problem with the demo unit at Woodcraft and have been experimenting with modifying boots from other sources.

Had the same problems. Cut the inside brisles off, about half length. Left the outside brisles to help keep the dust down.

I just discovered the same issue on my machine this past weekend. It was driving me nuts. I finally removed the dust boot and it solved it. I built the boot myself so now I need to find a thinner or more flexible dust skirt material. And like you...I have a ton of dust to vacuum up all over my shop. :(

I have the same issuer on a Shopbot with a really stout gantry. Even with Nema 34 steppers the boot bristles can create too much resistance and become a barrier to travel. I've gone to flexible plastic on my home machine where the ends are bent in a curve at the bottom to just raise as the z goes down.

Thanks. I had the same issue and figured it out just like you did. Without the boot I have dust flying everywhere. Can' wait for something that works!

Had the same issue with my HD4 Shark when I was v-carving with the dust boot. I came to the same conclusion, removed the boot and no issues since.

Had the same problem. I’m thinking of cutting the Brussels at a 45 degree angle inward to see if that helps.

Mine is only one month old. The new bush is so soft it gets sucked up into the spindle and burns on the bit. The vacuum also suck up the brush and dust flows out.

Chad, I just watched your Precision Matthews unboxing/review video. I was wondering if you had made any videos where you actually made something on it.

Do you do any maintenance to your spindle? Mine started making some weird sounds. Also what type of lubricant do you use for your rails?

I had a Shark CNC. I didn't know anything about them when I bought it. As I learned more, it didn't take long to see that this was more of a toy than a tool. It should have never been sold being made with plastic at least not at the price that they are being sold at. You are really better off selling it and buying another machine that was built with proper material in the beginning than trying to reinforce and upgrade a plastic machine.

Hi. I have the shark black diamond hd cnc, it has the same flex as your does. If you find a way to fix this, could you message me. Thanks

Solid metal like Axiom would be stronger.

thats why I am building my own cnc router, too much flex using round rods instead of rails and blocks, starting out super strong lets you get a good night sleep
