Eric is amazing. He taught me how to make signs with my router... and he was always there to actually TALK to me on the phone. He is an old school dude. I bought his base forr my dewalt router and his bits.

I’ve purchased two bases and several bits from the Rhoten’s business and they offer wonderful quality products. Like any craft, it takes time and practice to perfect - but with their base, bits and videos they get you EXTREMELY advanced and productive very quickly! Can’t say enough great things about these guys - I wish I was part of their family!!

Been watching their channel for years, and learned to carve with a router thanks to them. Their products are also really good and have a great customer service friendly mindset. They truly are great people! Glad you got to do a colaboraration video with them!

Matt - THANK YOU for hosting the Rhoten family. Aren’t they amazing, talented and wonderful folks? I love your charging board - the colors really make it stand out without going overboard - you picked the perfect amount to highlight! Would love to see you make one for that beautiful wife of yours! (Please give her an extra big hug just for me?) This was such a great project with endless possibilities and you’re so good at demonstrating an example and then allowing us, your viewers, to say ‘hey, I could do that’ and here’s how I would customize it to fit my needs (or their customers!). Thank you Matt. This was a walk up to the plate and then hitting a grand slam. Nicely done!

I found Eric and his dad over 10 years ago. Their lessons helped me make my signs look amazing. Great job as always, Eric!

Thank you brother! Just what I need for my palm router as my carving jobs have been sloppy because I can’t see the carving tip of the router and this will make controlling the router a lot easier.

Those details of white epoxy really make it look good.

Really great info on freehand routing. I worked in cabinet shops for years and didn't even know it was possible...!

That turned out beautiful and the fill you did Matt, was a great final touch.
I’d like to make one. I can say, Eric and Ryan make it look easy 😅. I have the 5 bits and base plate for my Bosch router, Rapid Resizer, inkjet with freezer paper letter sized sheets, and laser engraver for templates and letters, and out of 3-4 signs, I have one ☝🏼 that was worthy of finishing. I was a welder by trade for many years (following lines) and for me it just isn’t something I’ve been able to just sit down and do. Takes practice.

I don't do woodworking, but I have built control panels for flight sims (plexiglas). Engraving the letters are very difficult using a Dremel (even if it's in the "drill press" attachment)...now that I know the name of the very pointy bit ("carving line router bit") and to use a clear, standalone base, it will help immensely!! Most people seem to use CNC engravers or comparable, which is way too rich for my blood, but this setup will be wonderful!!

Thanks for putting this up!! ❤

I cannot afford a cnc but I can afford a router base plate for my colt 1hp router and a couple of the bits they used in this video! Super excited to give this a try on my current projects!

Nice video. I would add that using a household iron can be used to transfer toner from a laserjet printer will also work. On epoxy insertion into tight areas, try using an oral syringe. The tapered and curved tip can be trimmed to change the orifice size and gives you better access to tight areas. Hope this helps. Steve

I've been looking at small CNC machines to do what you just did. Router and base plate is the way to go. And it will save me $200!

This guys bases are great! As well as his videos. A couple years ago I fell off of a roof I was working on. Broke a bunch of bones and couldn’t work for quite a while. I spent a lot of time with a trim router with one of these bases learning this process. It was really challenging with all my injuries but it kept my mind busy and had something to look forward to during that time. My current view is that CNC takes the man out of craftsmanship. But I also see how a CNC for a straight up woodworker is necessary. Im a renovation carpenter, my preferred work is hand building built-in cabinets and shelving. If I did only built -ins I bet I’d loosen up on the idea of automation. I just love the being able to do things by hand. When I build a display and hand carve the business’s logo on it, they loose their minds that it’s not a CNC, it’s gratifying. Thanks for having these guys on, really kool of you to promote something fun like this.

Watch their channel and recently purchased 2 bases and some bits from them. I have a CNC but I love doing the hand craving. It is so peaceful!
