5. Negative emotions are a result of negative thinking
6. Be Prepared for Any Outcome and Act with resilience

Even though Marcus Aurelius wrote it 2,000 years ago — his insights on Stoicism still carry strong weight today. Stoicism is a school of Hellenistic philosophy founded by Zeno of Citium in Athens in the early 3rd century BC. Even though it is over 2000 years old, more and more people are discovering how Stoicism is not only relevant to modern times, but can be applied in very simple, yet strong ways.

My favorite quote from the Meditations - Waste no more time thinking about what a good man should be. Be one.

Love, love, love Aurelius. His writings helped me get through one of the darkest periods of my life and I still refer to his Meditations whenever I am confronted with challenges. The hardest part is wishing my friends would dive into stoicism ---- we all complain way too much.

I needed that video. I always worry about what others might think of me or what they might say. I've always tried to please everyone and, eventually I ended up hurting everyone I loved. Do what you think is right and not what you think others may judge right. Follow your own path. Fight for yourself and for the people you love. Never take anything for granted. Health, love, friendship. Those are the values you need to cherish and you must not forget.

For many years I lived by a stoic philosophy. Stoicism will prevent much unhappiness in your life, but it does not produce happiness, For that, you must act by other values. But some degree of stoicism will prevent you from being manipulated, from wasting your energies craving that which you don't need, and from feeling s lot of emotional pain. It is useful for people living in difficult situations which they can not change. It prevents a lot of pain.

But there is a great difference between avoiding pain and finding happiness.

Thank you. Excellent presentation... "...happiness and misery are super-sensuous phenomena. One cannot hear them with the ears or touch them with his hands. Happiness is a spiritual state." – Abdu’l-Baha, Baha'i Faith

"It is within your power." - Marcus Aurelius
He states this multiple times in his Meditations in regards to many different subjects. Simple, but powerful! Cheers for the video, the hard work is appreciated!

A lot of this can be summed up in the quote of a famous saint 'Grant me the courage to change the things I can, the serenity to accept the things I can't, and the wisdom to know the difference'...

Awesome video, thank you! I have several introverted friends who I admire and respect because they are comfortable and at peace within themselves. They like and enjoy their own company. One friend isolated himself for an entire month to get in touch with his creative self, no phone calls, etc. Another friend goes on meditation retreats for a month at a time.
I think an extrovert becoming withdrawn and isolating themselves would be a cause for concern as that is not the normal nature of an extrovert.
