Its really cool to see someone differentiating between the two. I play for almost 2hrs before I even realized there was a Hookset button (trigger). Soft set is my preferred method hands down. Cool to see that you have a name for it

good tip, I was having the same issue with the white sturgeon in San Joaquin area and this fixed my problem.

This method has helped me a lot before I was doing hard set because it’s the only thing that I knew I could do at the time and the hook sets had been super inconsistent with the tiniest bites being hooked one moment and those same bites not being hooked the next I found that if I feel my controller vibrate as I’m on Xbox I stop reeling and pull to one side and it hooks the fish fairly well this helped a lot and I’m currently using it as in writing this comment

i've always hard set then I would pull opposite direction and never get the hook set so i am going to do this instead.

On Xbox 1 is left trigger soft cause I always use that as my set trigger. I am new, only lvl 23. Trying to stop missing these bass.

Ive tried this dozens of times and can never get it to work. Ive had my tension shoot up to green and the fish still just drops the lure and leaves.

I was fishing for Bowfin using small cutbait on 2/0 hook with .006” on a TeleFloat rod

There is a time and place for both so I started using a hybrid of both where I turn the the side a little to create tighten the line and when I see the line tension I hard set….works 99% of the time
