wow hello, welcome back to the channel. my apologies if this video seems long and drawn out - sometimes when I take a long break, it takes me a while to get back into the swing of things.

I'm planning on resuming a more regular upload schedule again, but this time it'll be more along the lines of one new virus video per month, then maybe another fun or on-topic but not strictly a virus in-action video biweekly. a new video every other week, I should maybe possibly hopefully be able to manage that sort of pace.

if anything, maybe semi-regular videos will help revive this channel and bring it back into favor with the algorithm gods - currently it's about the slowest it's been in over ten years, and beginning to shrink subscriber-wise. I guess that's fairly normal for a channel that began almost 15 years ago and hit its peak 7 years ago, but still it kinda sucks to see the numbers in the red. not that it really matters in the end, it's just cool that people care to see anything that I put out there in the first place.

fun fact, this is the first video I've made with my new (to me) Lumix GH5S, hopefully it looks a bit better than previous videos, although there's only so much improvement to be made with pointing a camera directly at an old CRT monitor. at the very least, I can match the 70Hz refresh rate on MS-DOS and avoid the strobe effect.

thanks for reading this if you've made it this far. you're very cool, thanks for sticking around and watching the vids.

"I can't reverse engineer malware to save my life" he says after singlehandedly fixing numerous dangerous pieces of malware so that they are functional again

Watching Dan fix the viruses in order to properly function is the best part of the fun.

it's my favorite yt channel all the time. no noisy/annoying intro or outro. straightforward, so informative, and fun clips every time! thanks, bro. keep it up!

The poem in glupak appears to be written by its author. And the reason the autoexec doesn't format the drive is because they used "if errorlevel 0" which means "if errorlevel >= 0", not "if errorlevel == 0" (which is what they want) — so it always jumps to the end message

My favourite thing about watching these videos is imagining someone watching them and seeing a virus that they wrote.

This channel was my entire childhood; those random virus videos and that hilarious text support video were the best. I'm glad to see an upload.

I'll never get tired of the sounds of the disk getting obliterated by viruses and I'll never get tired of your videos. I'll always be around and I hope your channel can bounce back in the algorithm!

The quote "From the hypnotic spectre of wake I scream / Locked in the depths of a Suicidal Dream" doesn't seem to exist anywhere outside of this virus. I always love some good virus poetry.

5:51 As someone from Latin America [Properly Mexico], maybe I can understand this part of the macro.

-since for many years especially in all the 90-2000s [and the 2010s pre covid]. It was very common that in public schools of all levels the computer equipment was deplorable. IN FACT IT WAS NOT RARE THAT SCHOOL "COMPUTER CENTERS" MANY TIMES DID NOT EVEN HAVE INTERNET (Because they really did not have it, or the ethernet hub had broken down and there was no one to repair it or they even continued to use dial-up) [many times they were equipment that never received minimal maintenance [and it was very common that the students knew more about PCs than the teachers], they were very slow (if we are talking about something very slow for the XP era) to a fault, or many did not even turn on]. [so it wasn't weird that you had to use the pc in pairs to cover a group].
If your center was updated, you had B/W toner printers. otherwise they were dot matrix [lucky if they had ink] or thermal Yes, thermal printed full o' BPA letter size paper

-until 2011 IBM Thinkcenter computers with windows XP were still used (but made for the Win 95-98 era, hopefully some pentium 4 1st gen). It was not uncommon to find viruses in them, or old antiviruses that had not been updated or licensed in a long time (or many times antiviruses that were infected when they were cracked).

-It wasn't until around the 2010s when the government finally began to replace computers with Windows Vista and MS Word 2007 [Which was relatively worse, since they were also from a local manufacturer and by then windows 7 was already on the market].
-and by 2016 it was barely beginning to migrate to Windows 7 and Office 2013, and in 2018 to Windows 10 office 2016 (where it seems they will stagnate for another time since the loaner computers migrated to crhomebooks or only pass to MS 365.
it is doubtful that they machines support Windows 11.)

-So relatively If it weren't for the covid and that Microsoft and developers began to aggressively drop support for previous systems, many Latin American countries would continue to use Windows XP and Word 97-2003 in schools

if that sounds archaic, until 2010 many clinics still used typewriters. -- because there really were people who did not know how to use printers, much less maintain them and to "save ink" they only printed headers and the rest was written on a typewriter

so as ironic as it may sound, Smooth vandalizing school PCs in the pre 2010's was not uncommon (and relatively the most likely way to force them to fix them, since unless it was a virus or something of interest they just wouldn't do it) and also showing that you could affect the network gave you some "script kiddie-cool kid" status. And there was a possibility that if you knew what to do and how to repair pc's some teachers would allow you to skip some classes and do the work (because they knew that the city administration would not do it for a long time or they would save costs)

It always puts a smile on my face to see a new upload from you, I used to watch these videos as a kid on my Wii late into the night, and seeing not only new content, but also content that's kept consistent quality and vibes is weirdly comforting to me.
