Fed, I want to compliment you and John for being true entrepreneurs! DelRay sells watches, sells merchandise, and makes a one-of-a-kind watch to celebrate your success!

As an owner of the big pilot 43, he’s absolutely right about the crown, but eventually you do get used to it and it’s a fun watch to wear.

I prefer my Zenith El Primero chronograph over the Daytona every day!

I have grown into liking “boring” watches as they go with any outfit, you probably won’t change your tastes out of them, and they are classics. I’d personally definitely like a submariner but I won an OP 41 and a explorer II so I feel like I don’t need one. The explorer II is litterly a submariner dial with an extra hand

I sport a 7 3/4 wrist and the Cartier Tank Must XL works great on me. I wouldn't own a Sub, because it's become in a sense the icon of owning a watch for the wrong reasons, which may sound funny coming from a guy who has two Cartier's, but i got them for their style! I love IWC's, the Portofino, hand wound, 8 day in particular. Yes, it's big, but I like it! The Aquanaut looks like a 1950's TV set. No thanks! Especially at that price! All that said, my personal watch tastes are changing over time. Strangely, I'm wearing my two Bambino's (one has a green dial) more than my other daily drivers, and they're by far the cheapest watches in my collection. I'm more and more falling in love with the "bang for the buck" notion, and I'm actually thinking of getting a Kamasu, and letting go of my perfectly lovely Hydroconquest simply because of this notion! Watches are weird, or they make YOU weird! By you I mean I!

I agree with this list. Glad for this video because it helps clear up that there is nothing wrong me not liking these watches.

I pretty much agree with this whole video. I don't own any IWCs, no Subs, no Daytonas, although I do want the green/yellow gold version, no cartiers at the moment either, but my wife does. The Aquanaut though, I bought the 5168g in blue from my AD and I do enjoy it as a sports watch alternative to the Nautilus but I enjoy the Nautilus a bit more because of the detail like you said. But I most appreciate the grand complications watches

I think most Rolex's fall into the "boring" category and they are the main choice of the public because that's all they really know what to aspire for. But most watch geeks go through an early Rolex phase before they eventually come to embrace other brands that make watches that are better made, more interesting, and offer more value than Rolex. Yes we end up with a handful of our favorite Rolex models in our collection but we get more enjoyment from the hobby with the variety and spice of other brands.

Fed, you killed it! Especially with the Submariner and the Aquanaut!

I fully agree with you and for some of the mentioned prices, I would rather get a VC American 1921. Just my grail watch.

Absolutely love the aquanaut (I had the 38mm ref 5165) and the Tank! (Especially the modern “large” solarbeat..) Both simple - interesting shaped cases - solid build quality. But I’m lucky to have small wrists!

Wearing a sub says to me - I want you to think I’ve got money, but if I actually did have money I’d be wearing a Royal Oak. And both those watches say to me - I either don’t know anything about watches, or I have no capacity for original thought.

Excellent video, Fed. Agree with all of your choices. I have a Submariner and love it, but you’re not wrong about it.

At last a man who calls it out, about the hype of the Sub. For me it's the Ford Focus of watches. Every Tom, Dick and Harry's got one. My two goto watches are the Yacht-master 40, Rhodium dial and my Patek 1960 Calatrava. I also like to wear my 36mm Rolex Explorer, with the new movement.

I think the sub is the best looking sports watch in watchmaking from a design perspective but I agree with you on the Daytona and Aquanaut and I'd also add the Nautilus and Royal Oak and RO variants.

Can't disagree with any of these, although I do have a soft spot for the IWC. Another great video from Fred👍

I agree on most of your thoughts, especially the Patek, I like the No date sub in the black not the same with the date.

Feds, your honesty is incredibly refreshing in the watch world. Calling out the Sub and the Daytona for their boring nature is ballsy, and good!

Totally agreed with you Fed on the Sub and the Aquanaut.
