Hello there. Thank you for a clear presentation. I was diagnosed with T1D at 11 years old in 1972. And yes...' sugar' was the term used everywhere. Also, I am in Australia. Before I go I think on slide @1:34 you have left out a "not" between the words body and utilise. Thanks again regards.

Good tutorial, for better illustration the MHC 1 should be edited in the animation from two legs to one.

I’m interested in the genetic predisposition to autoimmune disease.. My mother has MS diagnosed 30 years ago and I was diagnosed with LADA 2 years ago at the age of 47. A very distant cousin on my mother’s side was diagnosed with T1 diabetes as a child but apart from that I don’t know of any other autoimmune disease in the family. Unfortunately I don’t have anymore info than that but evidently there is an autoimmune issue on my mother’s side (nothing that I know of on my fathers side).

Is it possible to have undiagnosed type 1 diabetes for so long? I'm 18 years old and I have symptoms for more than 6 months (i pee every 20 minutes and wake up 5 times during the night, feeling extremely thirsty, i lost weight i was 110 lbs and now it's 92 even tho i am eating a LOT MORE, blurry vision somtimes, sleepy and tired all the time, i literally have no energy to do anything i can't even study or focus on anything, i always feel sick and really fast heart beats) but my parents won't listen to me, but i don't think i can survive for that long if i had T1D but the symptoms are getting worst everyday..

Dear Arpan, this videos insulin-to-use-glucose -model is incorrect, pre-2000 information! Please! Review your model. See "Sonksen & Sonksen Insulin: understanding ... in health and disease". Or review the function of insulin receptor. Or review "AK Lectures" on the topics. In essence: GLUT1 to GLUT3 function without insulin, hyperglycemia is because glucagon.

first of all thanks for the video .I am 21 years old from Morocco and I am diagnosed with T1D and the antibodies test is ^positive I am shocked because diabetes doesn't exist in my family even type 2 . but I think it's related to my mom's health when she gave birth . anyways I still control my blood sugar with diet and sport but I am wondering if there is a cure to stop these antibodies from killing the rest of my beta cells
