Common misconception:
People think lazy eye is when your eye(s) move different from the other of it's own volition.
This is called strabismus, not lazy eye. Note that lazy eye is known medically as Amblyopia.

Lazy eye is when one eye is neurologically prioritized over the other because of development problems where the lazy eye isn't stimulated enough like a normal eye. This results in essentially only seeing out of one eye unless you can stimulate the other eye enough to force the brain to focus on that eye. Using eye patches for extended periods of time can be done to attempt to treat this by forcing the non-prioritized eye to be stimulated. This in turn can increase the optical signals in the brain for that eye. Ideally, it leads to both eyes being prioritized equally.

Strabismus (eyes moving separately from how they should) can be a sign of lazy eye, but they are not one in the same.
