The Wild Robot - In Theaters September 27

From DreamWorks Animation comes a new adaptation of a literary sensation, Peter Brown’s beloved, award-winning, #1 New York Times bestseller, The Wild Robot.

The epic adventure follows the journey of a robot—ROZZUM unit 7134, “Roz” for short — that is shipwrecked on an uninhabited island and must learn to adapt to the harsh surroundings, gradually building relationships with the animals on the island and becoming the adoptive parent of an orphaned gosling.

The Wild Robot stars Academy Award® winner Lupita Nyong’o (Us, The Black Panther franchise) as robot Roz; Emmy and Golden Globe nominee Pedro Pascal (The Last of Us, The Mandalorian) as fox Fink; Emmy winner Catherine O’Hara (Schitt’s Creek, Best in Show) as opossum Pinktail; Oscar® nominee Bill Nighy (Living, Love Actually) as goose Longneck; Kit Connor (Heartstopper, Rocketman) as gosling Brightbill and Oscar® nominee Stephanie Hsu (Everything Everywhere All at Once, this summer’s The Fall Guy) as Vontra, a robot that will intersect with Roz’s life on the island.

The film also features the voice talents of Emmy winning pop-culture icon Mark Hamill (Star Wars franchise, The Boy and the Heron), Matt Berry (What We Do in the Shadows, The SpongeBob Movie franchise) and Golden Globe winner and Emmy nominee Ving Rhames (Mission: Impossible films, Pulp Fiction).

A powerful story about the discovery of self, a thrilling examination of the bridge between technology and nature and a moving exploration of what it means to be alive and connected to all living things, The Wild Robot is written and directed by three-time Oscar® nominee Chris Sanders—the writer-director of DreamWorks Animation’s How to Train Your Dragon, The Croods, and Disney’s Lilo & Stitch—and is produced by Jeff Hermann (DreamWorks Animation’s The Boss Baby 2: Family Business; co-producer, Kung Fu Panda franchise).

Peter Brown’s The Wild Robot, an illustrated middle-grade novel first published in 2016, became a phenomenon, rocketing to #1 on the New York Times bestseller list. The book has since inspired a trilogy that now includes The Wild Robot Escapes and The Wild Robot Protects. Brown’s work on the Wild Robot series and his other bestselling books have earned him a Caldecott Honor, a Horn Book Award, two E.B. White Awards, two E.B. White Honors, a Children’s Choice Award for Illustrator of the Year, two Irma Black Honors, a Golden Kite Award and a New York Times Best Illustrated Book Award.

Now this is a good trailer. No dialogue that explains the plot, no corny jokes. Just good visual spectacle.

What drew me in this trailer was the lack of dialogue. That is so refreshing you have no idea. Really hope this does well

I'm a 21 year old man and this is the third time I've cried just from seeing this trailer. Something about it just gives so much emotion from the music, family, bond, sadness, happiness, love, war, everything in such a short trailer. It's so beautiful yet so bitter sweet.

This movie feels like one of those shorts that finally got a chance to become a movie everyone needs.

So that’s where the Megamind 2 budget went.

Every time I watch this trailer, I just go silent. I don't talk, move, and occasionally don't blink. This movie moves you.

I know this is gonna sound sappy, but I’ve never been so moved by a trailer in all my life. I have cried multiple times watching this because of how gorgeous it is.

I am praying that this movie lives up to its trailer.

The fact that Dreamworks is making an artistic animated movie on the same level that Pixar used to do shows how much change the animation industry has gone through over the past decade.

If the trailer alone can bring me to tears, I can already tell that this is about to be the most beautiful, emotional, life-questioning, existential, gut wrenching experience ever.

I know no one will see this comment, but I really feel the need to pour my emotions out.
I was rewatching this late late at night (2 AM ish?) having just remembered this existed, and the first time I watched it it was normal right? Just a normal reaction like oh, the visuals are gorgeous. Beautiful butterflies. Music is great. Aww, she's hugging the animals. But then I read a comment pointing out Roz being a lighthouse for the otters in that one scene, and I went back and rewatched it, and I couldn't see her clearly so I thought she was wayyyy in the distance and then I realized she was actually standing right near the otters on a rock and then I just started crying. Ugly sobbing. Then I rewinded the trailer with what little composure I had and as SOON as it got to that part where Roz plunges off a cliff, the tears were flowing. Then I rewatched the scene where Roz hugs the animals and just broke out into tears again.
I genuinely don't know what made me cry. Maybe it was thousands of tiny neurons linking up in the perfect coincidental way to lead a path to my tear ducts. Maybe it tapped into some hidden trauma I have. I have no idea, but I am so grateful to this trailer because I haven't cried in so long and I really needed to let out all that pent-up emotion.
This movie looks beautiful already, I have faith that it will be amazing!

This Trailer had 95% no dialogue yet it still showed way more emotion than the entire Lion King Remake(2019).

Edit: After watching the second trailer I still love this one better.

I think this is the only trailer I've seen during cinema ads that actually caught my attention. I will definitely be watching this when it comes out, it seems beautiful and really interesting. I hope they keep the little/no dialogue thing during the movie

It warms my heart to see an honest-to-goodness quiet, meditative-looking children's film coming out in this day and age.

According to a Deadline reporter, a studio executive told him he cried all the way through the last hour of the movie. This is a good sign.
