I had no idea that some plants just "die back" when first planted; I always thought my tank was just uninhabitable! Thank you for this video. It makes me feel a lot more confident in retrying a planted aquarium!

Thanks for a great video Cory! I love the way you do the "KISS" (keep it super simple) method of explaining things for us beginner folks.... lots of info in easy to understand language. The tetras in the tank behind you look AWESOME!!

The tetras and other fish going _crazy_ for the sera o-nip tab....SUPER COOL!!!! I love how it adds interest to the background. I would reckon that you did it on purpose and I love it!!!

I just learned a valuable lesson.

A single Female Sword tail can turn a 4ft planted tank into a barren wasteland in only 5 weeks.

It made me so happy to see Cryptocorne on the list! Easily a favourite plant of mine because they grow so bushy, my guys love swimming through them! I'll have to look into the Vallis one, looks beautiful! (I love that huge neon tank behind you too!)
I do seem to struggle keeping my Amazon Sword alive lately, I'll have to look into using root tabs over liquid fertilizer I think. I have new growth on the bottom, but the existing big leaves are just going brown so quickly....

Noob plant videos are the best... its like your making them for me! I'm in the 1/10 of 1% that can't grow duckweed. So far my Java fern and anubias are doing well.

Hi, I'm not sure if I got the tip from this video or another, but you said to put pothos roots into the HOB filter to help with cleaning the water. Well, I took the advice and 2 days ago put some rooted pothos in 2 of my Flu-val 30 gallon filters. When I did a water change today, I found that the extra effort the filter motor had to expend actually almost over-heated it! To the point where the plastic of the heater that screws onto the plastic of the filter box were both melted somewhat. Luckily I caught it sooner than later, and not too much damage was done. I think I will pass on using that tip! LOL
