Creedence Clearwater Revival - Born On The Bayou

Creedence Clearwater Revival is undeniably one of the greatest rock bands of all time, with an instantly recognizable, raw, bayou sound, popularized in songs like "Proud Mary" and "Green River”. Since their formation in the 1960s, CCR has sold over 50 million records, while their songs remain in heavy rotation on the radio.

Though the band only released 7 studio albums in their too-short career, Creedence had an astonishing track record: eight consecutive gold singles ("Proud Mary," "Bad Moon Rising," "Green River," "Down on the Corner," "Who'll Stop the Rain," "Up Around the Bend," "Lookin' Out My Back Door," "Have You Ever Seen the Rain?") and eight consecutive gold albums. With music that sounds as fresh and compelling today as it did 30 years ago, CCR is one of a handful of bands whose entire body of work has attained true "classic" status.

Doug's drumming on this song is just sensational!

Saw CCR in early '69 in a gymnasium in Tucson. They were not on a stage. The drum kit was on a riser. My sister and I sat on the floor in the first row right in front of John. CCR played "Bayou" exactly as it sounds on the LP. It sent chills up my spine. One of the best concerts I ever saw and I saw practically all of them including The Beatles and The Stones with Brian.

O of the best bands ever, Johns voice was so right on, raspy, raw, and right to the song. An original.

What a great time 1969, so much great music. Bands had their own sound & style & you would know who it was. Today the software does it all.

1:26 one of the best guitar solos of all of rock music. Overlay this onto literally any video and it's instantly drenched in a sort of poignant emotional heaviness. Same for second solo at 3:08.

Reminds me of my two eldest brothers, who taught me how to swim in the muddy waters of the Grand River in Little Eagle South Dakota

Creedence was a garage band, in El Cerrito, California. They used to play in Fogarty's parents garage with the door open, so the music could be heard all over the hill sides of El Cerrito and Kensington Calif. These suburbs were right outside of Berkeley.
