Braces - Elements of the orthodontic treatment and its role.

Different movements used in orthodontics in order to achieve a successful treatment are also described.

If left untreated, many orthodontic problems get worse. Orthodontic reatment by a specialist to correct the original treatment often costs less than the additional dental treatments that are required to treat more serious problems that may appear in later years.

Orthodontic treatment is always a change for the better, regardless of your age. The biological processes involved in dental movements are the same in adults as they are in children. The health of your teeth, gums and bones is the most important factor in determining the possible results of orthodontic treatment.

As an adult’s face bones no longer grow, some corrections cannot be achieved by using orthodontic devices, but may also require orthognathic surgery. Impressive facial changes can be achieved with a combination of surgery and orthodontics. Should you require this type of treatment, your specialist will explain all of the different procedures to be carried out.

The use of mini plates and micro screws is very present in orthodontic treatments, but they are not mandatory in all cases.

Braces are more permanent than clear molds/invisiline. Had braces for 4-5 years, my teeth are still straight 10 years later. As long as you have a wire retainer, your teeth stay straight.

Update for people who wanna know how’d it go: it hurt like hell. I can’t eat solid food because the next day it hurts a lot. I relay on soft foods like smoothies or bread. I have a special gum or wax to help with sharp edges which bother my gums. So far I’m ok :)

you're Right. I survived 2 teeth extractions but i don't think i can bear this sheer pain after i got my elastics put on with my braces. Its like every inch of my head felt the pain. I couldn't eat speak or even drink properly for a week. After a week, you think pain would go away but you just have to accept your fate and get used to it.

I wish I had braces. That would reduce the amount of bullying I would of received throughout my elementary school years. Now I’m a 12th grader in high school. That scar me through out my entire jr high and high school years. I been called anywhere from beaver to Bucky. I get judged by my appearance on a daily basis. But people don’t realize I couldn’t pick through my genes and choose what to change.

Braces do not hurt guys I’m about 3 yrs in and I must say I was nervous as hell when I first got them . It’s very uncomfortable your first couple of weeks because it feels like your teeth are huge lol But once you had them for a while and your teeth actually starts shifting your mouth does become sore. I must say the the tightning (getting band color changed) does hurt a bit but it’s tolerable . you won’t be able to eat the good food you’re used to eating for a couple of days after getting them tighten unless you’re a physco who really likes pain lol moral of the story is beauty is pain so suck it up because you will not regret the outcome 😬👌🏽

For anyone getting braces I just got mine and nothing hurt, people over react, just be responsible. And also the procedure of putting them on is not painful whatsoever. In fact I recommend asking them to tell you what they are gonna do next because I found it really interesting.

It took my orthodontist 15 minutes to put on my braces and my teeth are as good as new already!😊

for anyone who is having them put on:
You will be fine! It doesn’t hurt at all until later when it’s feels kinda uncomfortable, but For the first few days I just ate Jelly (or Jello if your from the US) potato’s, rice, Minced beef (obviously not on its own), pasta, yogurt, Cheese, (most dairy products) and anything that you could easily cut with a knife 😊👌 If I particularly missed sweet snacks, I would have a bit of cake or suck on chocolate 👍 Hope this helped! ☺️
