I'm sorry. This does NOT reset the adaptations in the manner that everyone assumes. One has to use INPA or ISTA or DIS to reset transmission adaptations after there has been work done.

it has been found that this will only work once on a BMW e60 (one key reset for every INPA reset). The key reset is a tool for senior BMW technicians, however, the ECU is programmed to only accept it once to avoid repetition by third parties. The only way to achieve it again is to update the transmission software via INPA. The car's previous transmission memory is erased by this process and after it will therefore accept the key reset once again too. No INPA reset = the key transmission reset approach will only work once.

As previously stated this doesn't have anything to do with the gearbox, I have had it on good authority by a BMW technician that what this does is reset the signal between the accelerator pedal (fly by wire) and the throttle body.

this has worked to get my 05’ 645ci out of limp mode due to water ingress causing false alarms. either that or i have a transmission issue which only shows itself when it’s wet outside

it use to reset with the switch off lock and open, start and use to reset but now i even triyed the gas pedal thing and keeps on failsafe and stays on the same gear, i need help please.

Hi. My key is a push start . If I insert fob into key slot it does not allow for turning. any idea how to bypass this step. I have a 2006 530xi
