Why are you jumping on video games like some pearl clutcher instead of looking further at the root causes of the issue than you do in the video? Plenty of countries have access to the exact same video games, yet the US is the one country to stand out with its massive gun violence

Katty framed exactly why in this scenario she can't understand the general anger and dismissal of the killing - you can't just view it as people being "bankrupted", its literally people seeing and feeling loved ones dying due to the system. Social media may play a part in fanning those flames as we have seen all across the world, however this is the true heart of the issue that is causing this unrest.

Mooch's speech about "sonder" and the value of human life is interesting because he applies it to the assailant, but doesn't think to ask the same questions of the CEO.

I am afraid Americans keep voting politicians who advocate for private health care and freely available guns. You get what you vote for. When my brother had a serious infection, he got a room to himself in a UK hospital and a dedicated nurse around the clock, WITH NO EXTRA CHARGE. Thank goodness for the NHS.

Don't blame it on poor healthcare, don't blame it on gun access, don't blame it on greed, blame on the Call of Duty.. 😬

America, create a universal healthcare system FFS. Any Canadian walks into the hospital, and they get treated. I never thought, oh I can't afford this or maybe I'll get denied. Holy cow people, you spend 3 times as much as we do and you worry about not getting approved or the deductible?

But don't worry Trump has a concept to fix our health care system.

I don’t think video games are proven to increase violence exponentially. Millions of people play violent video games in many countries but don’t commit violence in real life.
Americans have a healthcare problem, they have a gun problem, they have a really bad system of looking after the mentally ill, and there’s something in the American psyche which seems to create a unique callousness and disregard for the poor and vulnerable in society.
There’s a suspicion that EVERYONE who is poor is personally responsible for their misfortune, that they are ALL leeching off society, that they are ALL scamming the government and by extension every tax paying American and are the cause of most of society’s ills. This is what those at the top want the populace to believe, while they continue to live like kings and enrich themselves off the backs of others and the government.

I commented something similar on The News Agents' podcast on this subject, but I can't help but think that people (mostly older... Sorry Mooch) are massively overestimating the effect of video games. Billions of people around the world play video games and are totally normal and well adjusted. It's almost insulting to suggest that "oh the video games are contributing to this guy's decision", rather than considering that maybe he and millions of others feel so acutely aggrieved by the system in which they live.

👉👉👉A woman went to ER, sat there for 7-8 hours, was not attended to, so she left. Imagine then her shock being billed $800 USD.
INSANITY.

The idea that we even have to ask the question "Have we become so callow...to violence..." is laughable--because OF COURSE WE HAVE. Did no one realize this after the Sandy Hook massacre? Because selling more weapons to protect a false narrative in a country that already has 400 milllion+ firearms in private hands, a great share of them military weapons designed for killing humans, has become more important than protecting our very future, our children. Americans are unbelievably furious because at it's core, we have all come to realize more-or-less we're the mark, to be exploited.

We all know there is no Justice through the system. Do you seriously not realize that?

And do not forget how powerful the lobbyists for 11:56 the health insurance industry has been.

How many familes and kids lost their fathers due to insurance companies denying or delaying needed medicine or treatment? And all this just so those companies rich CEOs could make millions to buy themselves Yacht, a 3rd home, or some other luxury. People litteraly die and suffer every single day due to not having insulin or other medication, or getting needed treatment, families lose love ones all the time, where is their day in court for the murder of their love ones? They just dont get shown or talked about on tv like the murder of this CEO because they are not seen as important as he was and that is what this is really about.

As a non-American, I am wondering why the person(s) responsible at a health insurance company for patients dying as a result of being denied care cannot be prosecuted for manslaughter. Why was this CEO not prosecuted? Is there no justice in America?

This is a moment of class-consciousness and class solidarity around the ethical issue of needed health care. It's not a left-right issue, but an up-down issue. Across the board, Dem, GOP, and third party voters agree that this is a moment of celebration and call for justice. I've been denied two times this week alone for a needed surgery. I've been denied good care, needed care, reimbursements promised, and a long complaint list a dozen times. Narrow networks, poor choices of doctors. It's a hell scape. We're thrilled Luigi Mangione has taken this to task. How sad that he should suffer when these CEOs, investors, insurance industries literally have been maiming and killing us for decades.

Answer this question: How many sport stadiums are owned or sponsored by an HealthCare Insurance Company? Blue Cross, United Health, etc.

Now how many stadiums are owned or sponsored by the VA or Medicare?

Insurance companies make so much money that they can buy stadiums on all those denials.

She is dead wrong that the best systems are a mix of public and private.

The top rated countries with respect to healthcare and outcomes are all universal healthcare systems.

Australia, Netherlands, New Zealand etc.
