2025 Honda Pilot Trailsport Review: Contender or Pretender?

It seems every SUV these days needs to have some sort of rugged, more-off-road-capable version. At Honda, those vehicles fall under the Trailsport name.

The largest of the family is the 2025 Honda Pilot Trailsport that adds all-terrain tires, ground clearance, skid plates, and more. To see whether the three-row SUV is more capable or not, we spent a week driving on and off the road.

does it come with the wiring hardness as well? last time i bought a pilot it had a hitch and no wiring lmao.. so pathetic.

As an owner, I would say that the biggest flaw with these is the transmission tuning. At slow speeds or in dynamic driving the trans can get confused and some rough shifts can result. Also, the engine needs a hybrid system both for fuel economy (I average 21mpg) and for acceleration. The seats NEED a cooling feature, as they get HOT in the summer. I would also love it if they offered air suspension for height adjustability, but that’ll never happen.

Dog is not as comfortable in the 2nd row capt chairs. I would prefer the standard bench.
