This is a Motormouth couple car review of the 2025 Honda Pilot mid-size SUV. There aren’t a lot of changes for 2025 Honda Pilot, the US now adds the Black Edition model which Canada has for 2024. Honda is now offering the removable middle seat in the second row on more trims. You can store that seat in the cargo area which is a brilliant idea for those who want captain’s chairs one day and a bench seat the next.
The2025 Honda Pilot is powered by a 3.5L V6 with a 10-speed automatic transmission, 285 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. In Canada, standard AWD. In the US, FWD and AWD options are available.
The 2025 Honda Pilot is comfortable, spacious and offers tons of storage, it’s such a great family hauler. We’ve got the TrailSport model with an off-road tuned suspension, an inch more ground clearance, steel skid plates, smaller 18” wheels and all-terrain tires. It’s smooth and really eats up those imperfections in the road. The steering is very light making it easy to turn the wheel and manoeuvre this SUV in tighter spots.
The 2025 Honda Pilot comes standard with a 7” touchscreen with wired Apple Carplay and Android Auto, available 9” touchscreen which we have on our test model, it has wireless. The TrailSport has leatherette seats with orange stitching, driver seat memory heated second row captain’s chairs, a 9-speaker audio system, a wireless charger and a panoramic sunroof. The TrailSport is the only model that comes with captain’s chairs, all other trims have a bench seat.
In Canada, the 2025 Honda Pilot Sport starts at $55,486 CAD, EX-L $58,986 CAD, TrailSport $61,986 CAD, Touring $65,736 CAD and Black Edition $67,236 CAD. Pricing includes, freight, PDI and fees).
In the US, Sport $39,900 USD, EX-L $43,200 USD, TrailSport $49,100 USD, Touring $47,200 USD, Elite $52,780 USD and Black Edition $54,280 USD.
2025 Honda Pilot AWD fuel economy is 12.4L/100 km, 19 MPG city and 9.3L/100 km, 25 MPG highway. The Pilot AWD can tow 5,000 pounds. FWD models in the US 3500 pounds.

We have a 2023 Elite model and it's been fantastic for us - zero issues. We've driven it from Central Texas to Maine and back again with 3 humans, two dogs and all our stuff and it was so comfortable and easy. The driving assistance features also made it a pleasure on such a long road trip. It's an absolute road trip queen. The removable middle seat is great, as is the Bose sound system. Hoping and expecting Honda reliability will give us many more years of trouble free ownership.

I got mine Trailsport edition 2023 sky blue. Took it in a 300ml plus road trip recently. Love it. Added Tinted windows, ceramic coated, rust proofed, under coated and lots of interior accessories.

I have a 2017 Honda Pilot Touring. I have 323, 000 kilometres on it and it still runs like new. That’s why these vehicles are worth this much. I highly recommend this vehicle.

I laugh all the time when I see Zack always grabbing the "oh my God handle"

Yenno i always hear Zach say "get it while you can" for V6 and it really got to me... swapped out of the Ioniq 5 and back into a 2018 TLX v6. Just as smooth, love the sounds.

Let's talk about reality on MPG. People talk about how great or poor their milage is. I have a 24 Honda Pilot Elite. I bought it new and have never reset trip B on my gauge cluster. I am just shy of 7k miles and have averaged 23.8 MPG. I have verified at each fill up and found the trip computers accuracy is almost perfect. The best mileage I ever recorded was on the highway. I drove nonstop for 93 miles. We averaged 31.8 MPG. There were four people and all our luggage on this trip. The wost tank was the first tank. It was winter, the Pilot was still breaking in, and it was mostly city driving, I averaged 18.5 MPG. My driving style is pretty mellow and more city than highway, with a disclaimer of a trip from Denver CO to Duluth MN and back. I would love to hear from other people what overall real-world milage you are getting on your vehicle. Not short trips, all downhill, never touching the fuel peddle replies, but real-world average mileage. Also, your driving style would be helpful as well. I believe this could help the vast majority of people know what to expect if they are interested in a vehicle's true mileage. I am personally interested in knowing if similar SUVS to the Piolt with a V6, turbo 4, or hybrids in reality, over the long run, are that much different?

Everyone is safe when Andrea is piloting a pilot. And she looks good doing it.

"TrailSport has a full-size spare tire"...
Wow, a very nice blast-from-the-past!

After looking at and driving Atlas, Pathfinder, Explorer ST, Ascent, Highlander, and CX-90, my wife decided she liked the Pilot. We love it! Everything had its pros and cons, but ultimately we got a Black Edition in Sonic Grey. Drives sooo good. Proven engine (no turbo to worry about) with plenty of power, roomy, all the features you could ever want, AWD, a button to disable the auto start/stop (each time you start it but nbd), and great looks. For those of you hung up on the screen size it’s a non issue really. It’s plenty big to show everything you want and works very well. We’re VERY happy with it.

The TrailSport is the only trim with a Class III trailer hitch as standard equipment.

Get the v6 - our 2021 has been bulletproof over 87K with great performance and surprisingly good highway mileage and it will not be available again.

Yes, I want a hybrid Ridgeline, Passport or Pilot option. I feel very conflicted driving a V6 that only gets mpg in the low 20's.

I prefer the small screen. No one needs a stupid ipad in a vehicle like ford or tesla

I have a 2023 Honda pilot elite and drove it up and back from Colorado to Alberta (home) with no issues. I personally love the Honda lineup and specifically the pilot, and I don’t get why you don’t recommend it more in your videos. Agreed it needs a bigger screen, but other than that it’s the perfect SUV. Love that it fits 7 pax, good pep to it, the different driving modes have proven to be useful especially trail and snow mode, lots of storage, HUD, Bose sound system, moon roof, Honda reliability, etc.
I love watching this channel but it’s hard to relate to the push for anything electric. We live a farm/ranch lifestyle and it’s simply not practical for everyday life. I wouldn’t knock Honda for not creating a hybrid or going to turbo 4 cylinders. I love the V6. We also love our diesel trucks that can tow. For city folks electric and hybrids can work for sure, but in our industry that kind of vehicle doesn’t suit our needs. It’s ignorant to completely remove gas models by a certain time when they haven’t even proven that they have the tech to have vehicles last 700-800km on a “tank”. Keep SUVs gas until they figure that out and trucks diesel until they master towing without significant battery drainage. Don’t forget about all of us in the Ag industry.

Just picked up the 25 black edition. Wish you reviewed that version since it’s new in the USA.

3:22 - ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!!

They really need to offer a bench seat option in all trims. It’s a big-time miss anytime a manufacturer doesn’t have that option.

Off topic but I thought you might want to know. According to a video by Kirk Kreifels (YouTube) Toyota is having issues with the new Grand Highlander. They stopped shipping units june 9th and could possibly have a stop sell coming. In the video he said the drivers side air curtain isnt deploying properly in crash tests. The test dummies head slides besides the steering wheel and side curtain making it possible for the drivers head to hit the side pillar in an accident. Also in the crumple test the cage pushed to far into the cabin.

Just a little heads up 😉

Thank you for the review. I never miss one!

I have the Passport and I got rid of the 20- inch tires, I hated the ride. I got a set of 18 -nch wheels from a 2020 MDX. I upgraded to Michelin Defenders and now I can say "Oh Yeah" Get the V6 while you can. It will be matter of time before all these SUVs go to 4 cyl turbos

Having a full size spare tire when towing a travel trailor provides more flexibility since all car manufacturers specify that you cannot tow with a temporary reduced size spare tire. So as much as I would prefer a second row bench seat over caotain's chair, my priority goes to the Trailsport because of its full size spare tire. Thanks for your excellent reviews. 😊
