They just rose in value now thanks to this video

At this point, Doug himself is pretty much the main reason these cars will now skyrocket in value

The Toyota Century had so much crazy technology for its time. It is a very cool and weird classic luxury car that is very reliable.

Funny that Doug mentions a few cars I have had some experience with.

1. I bought an LS460 2008 new from the Lexus showroom, and still drive it today (14 years old). Still drives great. Have maintained all along meticulously (also with relatively low mileage) and despite some niggles in the 07-09 models, still worth owning. It’s hard to justify replacing because my LS is still so comfortable, smooth and reliable. Verdict: winning.

2. My wife drove a 2008 VW Touareg bought new, and we drove it for about 6-7 years. First years were fine, but expensive parts/service and lots of little issues. Depreciated like crazy and sold it for a song. 2010- models look much better. Verdict: should have bought a Land Cruiser

3. I bought a cheap Mercedes G320 and spent a lot fixing it up. Drivetrain has been rock solid, very comfortable to drive, BUT tons of issues with electronics, central locking system, comfort features. It’s a bit of a money pit and not sure if I can recoup what I put it. But still, a cool, capable car. My hope to is to get it up to 100% condition and then keep indefinitely. Prefer the V6 for efficiency. Verdict: jury is still out.

4. Classic Toyota Century is very high on my wish list. They come up for sale in Dubai for $15-20K. Tempting!

Btw all these cars were driven in Dubai, with extreme weather, heat etc. Your experience may vary depending on your location.

2005-09 avalon limiteds are very underrated, heated and cooled driver and passenger seats, rain sensing wipers, keyless entry, push start, auto headlights, radar cruise control, reclining rear seats, electronic driver and passenger seats, rear AC, NAV, and a 3.5l 280hp v6, only downside is FWD or an upside depending on who

There are literally no G wagons in that era at Doug’s price point. All the dealers probably marked them up $20k after this video.

I know Doug doesn’t like the Infiniti brand, but one more to add is the 2006+ M45. The V8 4.5L is extremely reliable. You can find really good low mileage examples for way under 15k.

The last of the Lincoln Town Cars fit the bill perfectly. Simple drivetrain, super comfortable and you can still find one owner creampuffs.

I own a ls460, so far the best car I ever had. Bought it a bit under priced due to minor fixing needed, did all job myself and the car is running perfectly. Already put 5000 Kms on it, and it's a joy to drive and from the silence I get in the back seats it's a joy for my kid and wife too! They are even cheaper in EU than the price tag you mentioned here.

I’d also add the first gen (in US) Hyundai Genesis 4.6 to the list, easily had under 10k, great performance for the money and bulletproof drivetrain. The biggest problem I had with my 160k+ mile example was the backup camera not working and I fixed it for $100. I drove it cross country and beat on it and it simply wouldn’t break.

4 years ago I fell into a silver 2004 Lincoln Town Car that the owners son was trying to prepare for sale. She was 79 and quit driving and it sat unused in the garage. It needed detailed and a LOT of maintenance and both bumpers refinished. $3200 made it mine and that's a lot of car for pocket change. Plus with an expected half million mile lifespan - it should be reliable and cheap to keep that way.

I’ve owned a ‘14 Equus with the Ultimate package for almost two years, and I can confirm their luxurious comfort and reliability.

I still vote for Lincoln Town Cars. Doug did a pretty good video about them a few years ago. Sure, they're getting long in the tooth ...but they still make the best value proposition so far as I can see. They're reliable. Durable. Get good gas mileage (23/24 mpg) and take regular, not premium gas. It's also cheap and easy to find new and used parts. And cheap to insure. Moved into a 13 Lexus ES after my last Town Car. New 05 Lexus IS 300 owner here, back in the day, so I'm familiar with Lexus. Interior's already falling apart around the engine on the ES350 and parts are 2/3 times what I'd pay for the Lincoln. Gummy rubber dash, worn out leather or nuluxe bolsters and door trim. And having off gassing issues with the windshield, that's a new one on me. Don't get me wrong, Town Cars have their issues, water leaks for starters, but overall, they make for the best value proposition. That said, no girlfriend, wife, or X wife's ever said a kind word about them. That Lexus tho. lol.

I would add the 1998-2011 Lincoln Town Car (and Mercury Grand Marquis) to this list. They were made in huge quantities so the cars and parts are widely available and cheap, many can still be found with extremely low mileage as a large portion of them are sold to old folks, and they were made with one of the most reliable engines Ford has ever made! I bought a 2004 LTC in 2020 with 4500 miles on the clock for only $15K. It was in brand new condition. Extremely comfortable to drive, quiet, very good mileage on the freeway given it's a V8, easy to work on, parts literally everywhere. I've seen many with 300-400K miles on them still running and on the road. They're not high tech, but they're cheap, luxurious, comfortable and run danged near forever! Any more questions? Doug has a video on this exact model!

Ironically, you posted this as I put my '09 LS 460 for sale on Craigslist... one of the most reliable and comfortable cars I have owned. Hope you can get someone to go buy it with this video 🤣Thanks Doug
