This is separate cases, criminal and civil. They're not combined. Plus, all the counts would be itemized, such as 22 counts of fraud, etc. The daughter's medical would've either been covered under the husband's Health Insurance Policy, as would his wife. Co-pay of any sort, would've been handled later. American hospitals have to perform the surgery, for life and death cases, not demand $1000s, which is Third World Country status! Some states even have their own insurance, and we also have the Affordable Care Act! Inaccuracies are driving me up a wall with these stories!!

Since when does a hospital require advancde payment in this day and age, this hasn't happened since the 30s and 40s when my uncle dies from a ruptured appendix because the doctor refused to operate on him.
