TDS Water Quality Tester
HM Digital TDS-EZ Water Quality TDS Tester, 0-9990 ppm Measurement Range , 1 ppm Resolution, +/- 3% Readout Accuracy

Measurement Range: 0-9990 ppm. From 0-999 ppm, the resolution is in increments of 1ppm. From 1000 to 9990 ppm, the resolution is in increments of 10ppm, indicated by a blinking 'x10' image. Fun, translucent blue housing that's very strong and durable.
TDS-EZ meters are calibrated with a 342 ppm NaCl solution. Meters can be recalibrated with a mini-screwdriver. Includes a TDS chart sticker on the back of the meter that explains TDS values.

Should have clean with Distilled every time, but with a $12 TDS meter, its not exactly a sanitized white room. See 06:25 I went from the office filtered water at 195ppm to the bottled water at 2ppm. So there is little to no loss in accuracy +/- 2ppm is not going to matter.

Bro cut to the chase with your video. Too much excess talk. This could’ve been a 2 minute video

Thanks for clarification on the PPM and disolved solids. People think low ppm equals highest quality water and no contaminants. A TDS/ppm meter is a nonselective measurement and cannot differentiate among different ions. A more sophisticated piece of equipment is needed to perform those types of measurements.A TDS tester is not sensitive enough to measure toxic levels of lead, chromium-6, or arsenic, even if they are present in a sample. This is because the reading displayed on an inexpensive TDS meter is in parts per million, while things like lead, chromium-6, and arsenic are toxic at part per billion concentrations (1000 times lower). Using a TDS meter to measure ppb lead concentrations in tap water is like trying to use a car’s odometer to measure a child's height…. It's the wrong tool

Keep in mind, this is a $12 tester and I'm not in a $1, 000, 000 sanitized white room lab, just my living room floor :-). If people are looking for precision from a $12 tester, this is not the YouTube video for that. Reasonably speaking, 1 drop of "cross-contamination" into a 4 oz cup of water yields negligible to 0 difference in a $12 tester. Because its a $12 tester. This is very apparent at 6:25, going from 195 ppm to 2 ppm to 25 ppm for 3 successive types of water. Rinsing with distilled water would yield exactly the same margin of error as dipping the tester multiple times into the same cup and getting multiple different readings that are +/- 2ppm.

High TDS is not an indicator of poor water. Try to test mineral water from Alps region, very high TDS, yet very healthy.

Wal-Mart's 1gal distilled water costs .68 cents. I tested it with the same total dissolved solids meter, the meter read
.000 ppm. My Zero water filter jug also reads .000 ppm total desolved solids also.
I tested the rain water and the meter showed
.013 ppm. I agree that the instrument should be rinsed with distilled water before each individual test.

All water should be on the same temperature. The higher temperature the higher reading. You should let all water calibrate to the identical temperature to compare the readings. Also, when you measure the water you should shake the TDS meter a little bit to avoid bubbles around the electrode

Thanks for making and sharing this demo. One note I have is that this could have taken you 2-3 minutes vs nearly 10.

WOW, I am impressed with that Niagra brand!

Thanks for the great video. :) Just got my TDS meter. Tested out in the office, and the tap water was 869 ppm, while the one from the tank 70 ppm.

Fiji & Evian water - those expensive waters really blow my mind. The readings are way high.

If anyone is pH of Aquafina ranges from 5.8-6.4. My source is my $190 Blue Labs PH Pen.
I grow large amounts of "medical tomatoes". My Ph needs to be 6.6-6.8. I have Michigan well water (very hard water, loaded with calcium magnesium manganese zinc copper etc....that averages 7.25 ph. I mix them at 50/50 i get a perfect 6.6-8 ph.

I drink tap water. Here in Hawaii it doesn't taste bad. I also carry a water bottle with me. On the occasion I forget I usually will wait or if at Costco pay .25 cents. Usually pretty thirsty after a Costco run. But good to know I am basically doing the right thing. Was going to invest in a Pur but probably won't do it anymore. Growing up we drank from garden hoses.

Did he calibrate the tester before using it for his test? TDS says they pre-calibrate the tester but when I've opened the tester packages they are never properly calibrated. Its a good lab instrument, don't get me wrong. But without being calibrated the numbers are useless.

Video is far too long
I made a cup of tea in between one of the test samples...
Needs to be shorter therefore informative without all the chit chat
Thanks any how

This 9 minute video should have been 3 minutes long. If this guy worked for me, I'd can him.
