I swear ctg missed the whole point. He's not looking down at hip hop, he's saying stop putting artists in one box.

He wasn’t looking down on hip hop. He was saying stop putting artists in categories based on skin color.

I’m glad that everyone in the comments see that CTG completely missed Tyler’s point.

How are you just going to put words in Tyler's mouth.... he's saying what we've said for years why are Black Artists segregated away from other genres. They placed Rihanna's albums as R&B for a number of years, though she released consistent Pop albums. As a result, she lost Pop awards, but gained R&B/Soul awards that should have gone to real R&B/Soul artists. Same with Beyonce, Usher, and Chris Brown, who were Mainstream Pop Acts but were placed as Urban Music Artists; Unambiguously Black.

Pop is Popular Music. Should be no exclusion.

He saying why did I win a hip hop award with a non hip hop album.

Tyler wasn’t being ungrateful. He’s saying he’s an artist. The Grammys are trying to put him in a box.

I disagree with charla, Tyler wasn’t saying anything is wrong with rap he was just saying he is doing more and wants to be recognized for that

Basically, if Tyler was white and created the same album "Igor" would the academy still put his music in the rap category?

CTG seems like one of those people who miss the point, and argue a point that was never made.

Tyler didn’t “diss” the Grammys, he was just stating PLAIN FACTS that’s all🤷🏽‍♀️

Tyler is not just a rapper. Charlemagne needs to be quiet when he's not familiar with artists.

Yee and Envy got to do better at pushing back on Charlamagne when he’s that far off base. He was way left on the Tyler situation

Tyler wasn’t looking down on rapping or being a rapper. He just said that is the default category for black artist even though they are not rappers.
Just put the music in the correct category. Putting beef in the meat category isn’t looking down on dairy, it’s just placing in the right food group.

Tyler's whole speach went over Charlemagne head

He didn't come off as being disrespectful by insinuating he doesn't want to be "just a rapper" to me

Tyler isn’t looking down on rap he’s just saying that they try to put us in a box when black people make better music than everyone else yet they use our own terms like rap to limit us

Tyler definitely wasn’t looking down on rap more like acknowledging his album wasn’t a traditional rap album him being in a rap category definitely took shine away from an actual rap album

Nobody:

Charlemane: He’s looking down on Rap

He didn’t diss the Grammy’s.

He stated a fact: they do put BLACK ARTISTS in “URBAN” categories, regardless of their genre 💁🏾‍♂️

If you heard Tyler album you’d agree with him. That was not a rap album.
