Many of us remember the 1980's classic film "Ghostbusters" as one of the most memorable movies of all time. However, after doing some research I found out that much to my surprise one of the people that made this possible, Dan Aykroyd, also has Autism! Today on Inspiring Autism Stories we dive into the tale of Dan Aykroyd, an Autistic from Canada, from his childhood to the creation of a music band all leading up to how Ghostbusters came to be!

Dan gets credit for co writing Ghostbusters, but Dan has admitted in interviews that his co writer re wrote the majority of the script. That tells me that maybe Dan did not have the talent as a writer. It appears as though his co writer may have had the talent as a writer. And it's interesting how Dan's character in Ghostbusters seemed to fit his real personality, ie Dan's character wasn't "the brainy one" and he wasn't "the funny/witty one", Dan's character was "the quirky one".

Thanks for watching! Minor note: The release date for Ghostbusters might actually be June 8th 1984 and not June 7th, hopefully I can get through one video without making a mistake lol. What do you think of Dan Aykroyd? Let us know!

In fairness, between his ownership of 25% of the Ghostbusters rights, his 50% ownership in The House of Blues, and his vodka distillery in Canada, Dan's doing fine... and to act like his career fell off after Ghostbusters (1984) is disingenuous at best. Nevermind an Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination in 1989 for Driving Miss Daisy, the same year he reprised the role of Ray Stantz in Ghostbusters II... You made it seem like the man is hurting for a gig -- which couldn't be further from the truth.
