Colorado Springs, Colorado - History & Information - #16/100

Today's adventure took us to Colorado Springs, the State's 2nd largest city at the base of Pikes Peak! (November 20, 2022)

First settled as a mining town and tourist destination, Colorado Springs has grown to become the core of a metro area approaching 1 million residents. The city is best known for it's location at the base of Pikes Peak as well as it's military presence and US Olympics involvement.

My family and I are on a mission to learn about the history and geography of where we live by visiting every town within a 4 hour drive of our house. We live in Pueblo West and once per month we are going to venture out and explore the great state of Colorado, one town at a time!

I think I came across your videos because I’m from Colorado Springs anyway I’ve enjoyed them keep up the good work. I also think you should do a visit to Palmer Lake. I know it’s close to Monument but it has a much different take in that area. I live on the central coast of California and I’m thinking of doing sort of the same thing you’ve done you inspired me. My daughter and son-in-law and grandchildren live there. He is in the Army and works out of Fort Carson. Beautiful area. But the two most important things about it are, and read carefully, the fried pork tenderloin sandwich at BJ's Velvet Freeze and the green chili breakfast burrito at King's Chef Diner. Trust me. How is mt Rosa an alpine summit if mt Rosa isn’t above tree line?

I grew up in during the 60s and 70s I I went into the military and I did not come back for 40-plus years that was like September ended up being on West Colfax in Lakewood sadly the worst place I could have ever ended up at it's a very scary community over there now mostly homeless what you're almost all drug addicts I no longer wanted to live in Colorado after being around there I decided to move to Indiana where my sister is sadly

This is a great video series. It's a shame that Colorado Springs seems to attract so many religious cultists and violence.
