A very interesting history of Colorado Springs. I was born and raised just east of Colorado Springs in 1952. My father was born in Colorado Springs in 1931. My mother was born a year later. My Grandfather was born around 1890 in Colorado Springs. My Great Grandfather was born in Missouri but moved to Colorado around 1875. He needed better air to breath and his doctor told him to move to either Colorado Springs or Pendleton. Grandpa JD Johnson came to Colorado Springs, tried Pendleton and moved back to Colorado Springs because he liked it here better. He was a self-taught attorney and horsetrader. He would drive his horses to Pecks Corral in downtown Colorado Springs, trade horses all day, then open the gate and let them lope home. My first saddle came from Bingos Saddlery in 1955. He was located in downtown Colorado Springs. I still have great grandpas wooden desk chair here at my house.
