This is my favorite tutorial because I am not a fast quilter. I began in 2008 and learned everything from you. I desperately wanted a quick top for my cousin who was being treated for cancer to take with her to chemo. I made this for her in a bright beautiful floral. I told her that every square was a happy memory of the fun we have shared. I made a border around it and told her that it was my love. I took the scraps and made another border of small squares and told her that each square was a prayer for her and the final outer border was a white on white with hearts as the pattern and I told her that was the love of God and that he was always with her. She kept her quilt throughout her entire battle. My aunt said that it brought her so much comfort and took it everywhere she went.

Jenny, I guess now after making 9 quilts of this pattern I can make my first comment. Thank you for being you Jenny. Your fun attitude inspired me to make my first quilt at the age of 62 and 11 months. I never learned to sew until I started watching video of you and Donna Jordan on You Tube. This pattern is fun and easy. If I can do it, ANYONE can. Wish I could figure out how to post a pic of one of my quilts.

Jenny- you have come a LONG way ! from a Walmart singer and regular iron to top of the line... I still (obviously) go backward and look at your videos! God bless you and your family for bringing to us old ladies a new hobby and for restoring the town!

hello: i love your tutorials, but would REALLY love to know the finished size of your projects. for this tutorial, would one layer cake make a twin or a throw-sized quilt?
thanks!

Six and a half plus three and a half equals 10 so it together it's 9 and 3/4 correct? Therefore halfway would not be 5 inches. Or am I overthinking this

My friends and I each made quilts with the 10" blocks like the one in your video. Then we made arrangements to take them to a Ronald McDonald house across from a hospital. They were so happy to get the quilts. The ladies gave us a tour of the house being careful not to disturb any patients or relatives of patients. We had such a wonderful time that day. Each child gets to keep the quilt he or she recieves.

@UKmaryanne This is so easy 2.5 inches all around the quilt. then add the sides a 4 inch piece with the 1 1.5 piece scrappy strip made with the leftover blocks. Then the top 4 inch square 1 1.5 scrappy strip, 4 inch piece to go across the top and then another scrappy strip, and the 4 inch block and you are finished!

I love how your tutorials become new again as quilters discover all the wonderful quilts you have shown us.

I really love this pattern - tonight I'm starting my 3rd "Double Slice" quilt using Weeds by Me & My Sister.  then I'll add a 2 inch border in solid black, and then surround that with a piano key border using charm packs and adding black cornerstones.  It will be stunning!

You have the greatest ideas for quick quilts!  I just love watching your program, and love the 'send off' of all my orders from your store.  I always have a good laugh, when I read how my orders are carried on a velvet pillow, and sent only by only your select staff!  You guys are so much fun.  Thank you, you're the best!

Dear msqc, I used 5" squares to make this block. I cut the squares at 2" and 3". Used the same technique, utilizing a 30's-style children's prints.

Quick and easy, i got all the blocks done in this evening, I just need to sew the rows and add a border and the top will be finished.

So much fun. So cute.

Thank you msqc!

I love this pattern!  I am going to make this for my grandson using my Here Boy Layer Cake by Abi Hall for Moda.  I can't wait to see it finished!

I also have to tell you that I was able to stop by your shop in June while my husband and I were on our way to Yellowstone.  I was a crazy woman when I found out we were going to be driving by Hamilton, MO.  LOVED your store and wish I had more time to look at all the stores...but as we know men (especially those circling the block pulling our camper LOL) are all about the schedule while on vacation!  :)

I saw a beautiful layer cake in blues on your special of the day. I ordered it and now I am making this quilt. It’s fun to have an easy one once in a while. Keep doing what you’re doing. I’m a fan!
