Just One Layer Cake Makes A Quilt Top || Easy Free Pattern!

🍁 Let's Make A Layer Cake Quilt! 🍁
We will use just one layer cake to make this stunning quilt top. Come along to have some quilting fun as we explore this free pattern and free quilting tutorial.

You can use whatever fabric layer cake you'd like (even scraps!) to make this beauty. Although this looks like a disappearing nine-patch, it isn't. It is much easier, too!

This is the fabric line I used in this tutorial: Forest Frolic by Robin Pickens for Moda Fabrics
Color Tool with Ruby Beholder: Ultimate 3-in-1 Color Tool

Here are the supplies you will need:
(1) Layer Cake or (36) 10" Squares (18 Light/18 Dark)
Rotary Cutter
Ruler: 9" or larger
Helpful: 6.5" Ruler
General Sewing Supplies:
Sewing Machine, Iron,
Matching Thread, etc.

Let's get starting sewing some patchwork!

I'm just getting back to quilting after 20ish years. This tutorial was so clear - I think after I finish my husband's 9 patch, I'll do this pattern. Love the quilting you showed on your sample table runner too. I don't have a long arm. I'm from the days of hand quilting, so everything will either be machine or hand quilted. Hoping to start now and make a quilt for all my family members (6 brothers, 2 adult children, and a niece), so I better get busy. Now if only quilting fabric hadn't gone up in price LOL

I love layer cake pre-cuts because of the beautiful prints that already co-ordinate and one gets to use the whole collection! This is a great pattern to show off a collection and I appreciate that there was no additional yardage to make up the blocks. love that your layer cake pattern actually needs & uses most of a layer cake square. (I've ran into too many that could be made with a jelly roll or 5 inch squares instead. Pet peeve of mine.)
