[cc] I like to read about politics but I'm also often intimidated by the topic! But I decided to branch out this year and read some books that are not my usual topics on politics (and some books I had for a while). Let me know if you like to read about politics 🥰 Expand for details ↓↓↓

This is a very cool project! I totally agree about politics influencing everything. Most of my reading has focused more on social justice issues, but you're right that it would be so helpful to read about political theory in general. Looking forward to your thoughts on these!

As a major of Political Science, I thank you for your efforts in this video... I don't like academic books at all.. I used to study these books just to get first class in master degree! But I love to read about political science outside the academic zone! Thanks again... Gonna read these books you just recommended!! Love you from India... You just got a new subscriber! 😁❤😘

Last year I read The Hidden History of Burma, and Jung Chang’s fantastic biography about Mao, along with reading some memoirs that occur during Mao’s reign. With this I think I’m getting closer to reading books about pure politics but the books you mentioned are still a bit intimidating. But I’m interested in How to Lose a Country and would start with that.

Great video! (And thanks for the shout out!🥰) I’ve had Kazen's recommendation on my list for a while now and never got around to reading it. Maybe we can do a buddy read of it? I’ve definitely been looking to be more involved in politics since we talked about political hobbyism ages ago. You know I’m a natural petition-signer and letter-writer and boycotter of companies hahah but that all still feels so passive compared to what else could be done so reading more books on both political theory and political action is something that really interests me too.

Love me a difficult non-fiction project. I started reading more and more about politics as I got older, and agree that there is no such thing as apolitical. Not taking a stand is also a political position.
Haven't read most of these, and though I don't agree with Fukuyama's politics, but the Political Order series is epic. Those two books have taught me more about politics than anything else.

This is such a great project, and good on you for going back into history too! I'm kind of allergic to history 😂
The Supreme Court is fascinating! If you want to learn more once you finish the book about the Roberts court the podcast Amicus from Slate is a great look at current cases and events. And for the record - Japan has a similar supreme court system! Then again, it's set up in the constitution that was basically dictated by the United States, so 🙃😂
Oh I hope you like the Temelkuran... that trust... 😭🥰

I usually enjoy a well-written book about politics but have to space them out over time. I agree that it can be a challenge to balance between reading about U.S. politics (which I should understand best, since I live here) and politics in the rest of the world, which clearly affects many more people and affects me indirectly as well. Good luck on this effort!
