At this point jack doesn't need a beanstalk. He can just stack his books together.

At this point Charles Dickens is the main villain in the Jack Edwards cinematic universe

as an icon once said: collecting books and reading are completely different hobbies

my TBR pile is currently at 55, and one thing i've been doing is messaging my friends and asking them to pick a number from 1 to 55, and then reading that book. it really helps with getting through them when you dont know which one to pick, and it could be a fun idea if you wanted to do the same!

I literally saw the first still image of this video and cried out “oh no, Jack” as I saw the amount of books piled up

Now I feel better about myself ( Ignores the huge pile of her tbr books and whispers at least they are less than Jack's)

Physically, I only have 7 books I haven't read. Digitally is a completely different, far more devastating story.

i like that jack strategically put his own book in the frame thinking we wouldn't notice 😂

As someone who has been reading her nearly 70 years I simply cannot have a favourite book. However of those you showed us my favourites are White Teeth, Catch 22, Small Island and..
Oops, there was a fourth, old age kicks in!!

Just imagining your friends and family watching this with and shaking with fear as they see their gifts getting nearer the top of the pile

Elevated texts = you sit on a bar stool while you read it.

Also, A Suitable Boy is amply worth the time investment. I first read it several years ago and it’s part of my life now.

I have never experienced burning jealousy until I saw that thumbnail. Jack better add a couple more locks to his doors cause holy shit that pile is making me consider premeditated robbery.

Anne of green gables was the first book that I ever read that made me think maybe a book doesn’t need dragons in it to be amazing 😂 I read it again as an adult and loved it even more, it’s just one of those stories that last.

Edit: there is also an audiobook version read by Rachel McAdams that I highly recommend as well.

Edit again: I can accept people skipping the book but y’all can’t skip the TV series Anne with an E. Bring your tissues for those first couple episodes though.

"Their Eyes Were Watching God" is a good book! I read it in high school and it's especially fun listening to an audio while reading along cuz it's written in a southern black dialect. It really puts you in the setting and it's so interesting

Mine wouldn’t fit on a table. I decided a long time ago that the real point of having a book collection is not actually to read them all. It’s to be continuously excited about the books I want to read.

We have always lived in the castle is a MUST READ!!
It’s one of the best books I’ve read in terms of description, visuals and creating a distinct environment that you as the reader feel like you’re standing in its remarkable.

I think American Dirt could make for a really interesting video given the controversy around it - it's not the best book, but it certainly opened up a conversation about diversity in publishing and the importance of own-voices storytelling (also love seeing the amount of Latine literature you've picked up recently - cannot recommend One Hundred Years of Solitude enough!)

Please give Joyce a chance! People always start with Ulysses and get intimidated, but The Dubliners and Portrait of an Artist as a Young Man are both MUCH more readable and worth the time. Plus, once you get used to his style, Ulysses doesn’t seem quite so daunting (sidebar: it is still daunting though)
