It’s funny how Dedede’s so goddamn fast in the Kirby games, but when you look at him in Smash he’s ridiculously sluggish and struggles with mobility.
It’s almost like they’re forcing him to intentionally hold back, or else is Dedede mains would be too good...
OR Dedede would just be more fun to play.

theres actually a move dedede performs in dreamland 2 thats reminiscent of his down special.
occaisionally and only in dreamland 2, dedede would enter a "rage mode" where his attacks get buffed for a short while. the charging animation is kind of like this rage mode, as is the buffed up hammer attack.
also the purple dedede outfit reminds me of dedede's revenge from kirby's blowout blast... which was a purple dedede.

I find it interesting that Dedede doesn't have Fire Effects on his hammer for some odd reason. It's a shame really. Plus, what's with down air not being hammer twirl?

Actually, now that I think about it, by comparing Smash 5 Dedede to Star Allies Dedede it's clear that the smash version of the King was held back...A LOT.

They would not be interested if King Dedede and Bandana Waddle Dee join the Phantom Thieves like Kirby, their Codename would be Titan and Shield and would be a great addiction to the team, to those who want King Dedede and Bandana Waddle Dee to join the Phantom Thieves give me a good LIKE👍

King Dedede's jet hammer comes from the cancelled Kirby GCN, in SSB Brawl, the jet hammer's model is from Kirby GCN. A piece of concept art for GCN, shows Dedede holding the jet hammer.
