People need to stop showing the crater in arizona and calling it the chicxulub crater. That crater in the desert is not caused by the dinosaur killer. Gets on my nerves.

Chicxulub was large enough that it’s impact caused earthquakes of up to a magnitude of 10.0, a pressure wave large enough to still be producing _hurricane force_ winds as far away as Canada, a temperature wave that would melt skin and instantly ignite forested areas, and a blast wave that traveled the entire globe 6 times.

On impact, Chicxulub would kill 200, 000, 000 people in the modern day, within a matter of seconds.

The subsequent earthquakes, pressure waves and temperature waves would obliterate the entirety of North and South America. Europe, Asia, and Africa would not be safe either, as the pressure wave would propagate throughout the entire planet, demolishing buildings, as rolling tidal ways and earth quakes destroy whatever still stands. This isn’t even mentioning the splash of molten rock from the mantle tall enough to reach space.

Something like Chicxulub would crash straight through the crust and open a window into the mantle, causing the surface to act like a body of water does when you toss a pebble into it. Remember, everything humanity is and has ever known exists on ONLY the top 10% of Earths thinnest layer.

Most people knows this but the Chicxulube asteroid was going around earth for millions of years before the impact, it was sent from the outer asteroid belt coming in because of a collision in the outer asteroid belts, things like this happen all the time but it is extremely rare for it to circle the earth over and over before entering the keyhole, a keyhole is the earth's gravitational pull which then caused the collision course with earth. At this time earth and all life was at much danger because the asteroid was 10-17 kilometers wide, strong enough to wipe out mankind the asteroid caused horrible devastation such as volcano eruptions earth quakes acid rain magnitude earthquakes and other natural disasters. There was 48 hours before small creatures noticed a "new star" spawned in the sky, little did they know it wasn't a new star it was coming for the earth. This type of asteroid was a Carbonaceous Chondorite which is a very dark asteroid but became visible from the suns reflection. I hope this helped you guys understand what happened and what it was. This event took place 65 million years ago.

Lets be honest its mere speculation. The real Asteroid impact spot is probably buried somewhere deep into our ocean, that we havent explored yet. People are talking about Space and Mars while most of our Ocean has been left unexplored. Which i understand why, the pressure would destroy all of our equipment.
