y=mx+c explained | GCSE Maths #shorts

y=mx+c is the general equation of a straight line, where m is the gradient, and c is the value where the line crosses the y-axis. This number c is called the intercept on the y-axis. The equation of a straight line with gradient m and intercept c on the y-axis is y = mx + c.

If you want to calculate the gradient just do
X•Y.
Example of y=mx+c in context:
M=3
C=2
X=123

m•x=369

369+2=371

So if the X=123 and the gradient carries on at a rate if 2y for every 1x until 123 on the x axis, the y will equal 371.

When is an equation the intercept is not given
It's only mentioned y=mx
Then we consider c=0
So we'll the start the graph in bw y and z not touching y or x
It's really confusing somewhere the line touches origin then begins and sometimes not
